The pastel apprentice flinched when she saw movement at the corner of her eye - a flash of warm colors splashed with black and white had bounded out of the Scout's cabin. Locke took a step back into her den, before catching a familiar scent. Oh, it's Evra! Locke thought to herself in excitement, and bounded out of the Apprentice's room. Her small paws paddled over to the senior scout, head dipping as she swam close to him. The others always wondered why Locke was so curious about Evra, the 'Grump' that they whisper behind his back. Locke can testify to this, but it only made her all the more eager to bug him with her company.

"Evra! Good morning, Evra," she mewed, skipping her formalities towards the calico serval. "Where are you going? Can we go out? Will you take me out for patrolling?"

A warm and fuzzy aroma drifted over his nose. And a squeaky little voice bounded down his ears.
Evra flinched. Oh no, not her again.
This was going to be a long day, he could feel it from ear tip to the very end of his tail.
At least an intruder would have been a bit of fun, but this bundle full of fluff had to take away his excitement in a heart beat. Evra stood tall, his ears back and tail swishing violently. If there was any time to meet Evra, it shouldn't be in the morning. Its hard to believe, but even he was worse off as soon as dawn breaks.

'Hello.' was his only response. But deep within his soul, Evra knew he liked Locke more than he let on.
There's not many Sea servals that would be able to put up with him.

Locke kneaded her paws on the cold surface of the ship's floor, as if absorbing all of Evra's excitement into her and not realizing how it affected him. "So," Locke mewed as she swam a few playful circles around the scout, before stopping in front of him again. "That's a yes, right?" A teasing tone lingered in her voice, followed by a cheeky grin from the pink apprentice. Oh, Evra can be so stiff, so someone else has to fill out the blanks for him; that is, according to Locke. It's probably not the best way to converse with him, but she liked it anyway.

Well, I guess I never said no. Evra thought, with a twitch of his tail.
He had once been so eager to go out, when he was an apprentice much like her.
Oh how it all had changed. Though of course, taking this noisy pink thing with him
would disturb all those peaceful sights he loved to see, perhaps it'd wear her out.
and if she was worn out, she'd leave me alone! It was the perfect plan.
His sharp glistening teeth showed for just a moment, as he held back a grin.
For a heartbeat longer he stood still, the next he leaped into a streamline sprint.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" he called back, making no effort to slow down and wait.

Locke was just hanging in there as Evra stared silently at her in his thoughts. The way his twitched his long finned tail and how his green eyes stared down, it made Locke twist her tail for luck.. Then there was a flash of white, and suddenly he was gone. She was speechless for a moment when the male dashed away, leaving a trail of bubbles, but his words made her heart jump for joy.

"Oh heck, yes!" Locke cried, a smile spreading across her face as she chased Evra from behind, her speed matching her hyperactive self. She was so sure that Evra was going to say no, but now she can laugh at the other apprentice's faces after this. "Hah - the borders! I get to see the borders!" She kept an effort to swim in one line for maximum speed, but despite that her body would sway side to side in excitement.

Just the eagerness of the apprentice has Evra smiling to himself.
He didn't usually show his emotions, but this was an exception.
It was not as if she could see him so happy anyway, so what did it matter?
In fact, it felt great. Evra didn't know what had overcome him, but he felt like a child.
But reality was restored in a pinch, as he circled round to face Locke, once in open water.

His face was now a tone of strict, the glum side to a hidden apprentice within him.
"Now then." He begun "You're going to have to promise to obey if you are to come along."
His face hardened. He would be able to see through any lying sea serval,
if it meant the borders may be at risk. Evra would never fail if it meant
the defending of his homeland.

Locke almost did a somersault in the water, tumbling in a fuzzy mess when Evra stopped. Had she not pulled the brakes sooner than that, she might have crashed against the Scout! The apprentice shook her head vigorously, shaking off as much dizzyness as she could. Locke looked up to meet eyes with her mentor for the day, her chest heaving up and down quickly in excitement.

"Yyyes, of course!" Locke promised loudly, then drew a cross motion with her paw on her chest. She looked around in awe; The ocean just stretched around them, infinite and holding many a mystery.. Too bad they couldn't go any farther than the Corals that their ancestors planted.

"Hohh?" From a distance above, a young black serval watched two shadows emerge from the ship. "So it is inhabited?" He mumbled to himself with interest, stroking his yellow chin with a paw. After a few moments, he swam off, hoping before the two could spot them.

Locke doesn't seem to notice a shadow from above that had taken interest in them.

Evra nodded.
He believed the clumsy little apprentice.
He couldn't help to hold back a tiny meow of laughter,
she was a very amusing Serval indeed.

A cold shudder drifted down his spine,
the warning to something he hadn't noticed.
He couldn't quite grasp what had made him so cautious.
Evra froze. "Get down!" He ordered.
But before he could move, the presence was gone.
'what's up with me today?' Evra thought with
a tinge of embarrassment.
Was he more protective over this apprentice
than he thought? There was nothing there, and he knew it.

"H-huh?" Locke flinched at Evra's sudden warning. Instead of crouching down though, she slithered behind Evra's back and lowered her ears in fear.. But there was nothing there. Locke blinked a few times, wondering for a few seconds about the situation. Did he really saw something? Yet she saw and scented nothing. Just the open sea around them. Was he playing with her? Evra being that playful? She couldn't register that in her little head. Then there was only one possible solution.

"You were just testing me, right?" Locke perked up, swimming back in front of him. "W-well, did I pass?"
