Who goes there?" Jumping slightly at the sudden voice you fumble for the letter you had received that had summoned you here. Its tattered and worn from your travels, but one can still read the words delicately scribed on the parchment.

Rules that Govern All

Postby Tundra » Wed Jul 29, 2015 6:16 am

The rules are simple

Stick to the site TOS/rules and role play board rules.

Godmode/Godmodding is not allowed. This is in the case that you take complete control of another's character. The only exception to this rule is if it affects the character involved in a beneficial way. For example, pushing them from harm's way or dragging them. This is also allowed in the case of someone going inactive and having to move the character/save your character from being tangled with them.

Keep consistent with the lore - do not introduce major new landmasses, though small cities are allowed; nor can you create your own creature.

Use only the creatures released on-site, though you can give them distinguishing marks *scars, slight difference in build/coloration, items, paint, brands, but nothing drastic*. Do not create wildly different/nonexistent designs. This is art theft.

Please, just stick to what is in the Codex ^^ This also means to stick to the rules governing creatures. Telepathic links only exist between Ancients and Runes when it comes to bonds between them and their bonded. Bonded creatures other than ancients and runes have an empathic link with their humanoid companion can more easily read each other's emotions and the like, but there's still no like... words or the like.(This is semi lore..not official. But existed before the sight was offical)
Bonds Magic Scale
Ancient/Phoenix> Rune Drake> Rune Dragon> Elkrin > Other species

No character limit, just play as much or as little as you feel comfortable with; and any/all genders and sexualities are welcome, as well as all listed Eld races/species! Do not use customs unless they belong to you. Ancients/Phoenix's atm are not allowed. They will be introduced later relating to the plotline.

Semi-lit RP, which means please, use decent spelling and grammar, and at least attempt to avoid one/two line posts, just make sure people have something to reply to; and just... don't be a jerk xD If you are interacting with another person's character, I suggest you tag their username and the character(s) at the start or end of your post. If you have gone more than a page without anyone interacting with your character and you would like to do something, please ask on the OOC thread.

NEW:While there is no posting order to this RP, please use common sense when posting. If you have posted more then twice already is probably best to wait for others to post. Id save at max you can post three times a day without messing with the other participants too much. This allows all to have time to post accordingly.

Every story has a Beginning, its up to you to shape it and build it to determine its end
(I want to note to you all, this story takes place before Oblivion is released and the dark magic is freed, but assume all creatures released during those events are all already there lol.)

The day was just like any other day, or i should say night since the moon was what was high it the sky at this time. The city was alive with people even still, the glasswork dragons zipping around your head to light the lanterns that dotted the city. It was beautiful, calm and serene, but those scenes never last long. The city was to soon be vibrant with creatures of all variations. The Gala was a once a year event, and many got invited despite its high class standing in society. Kuar was here for just such an event, but he didn't need the invitation to be there. No one Ever questioned him it seemed, once they looked into the cold chill of his eyes. It was as though, the didn't want to question him, for fear of the answers. But this was life, and at least this aura he carried didn't hinder him finding friends throughout the years. Kuar chuckled as a lantern Glasswork landed on his finger and examined him curiously, as though it was confused. Had it ever seen a man like him here? why was he so cold? Who was he? What is this crystal? you could just see these questions cross its little face before finally fluttering off satisfied with its answers it had given itself.

Khalid hissed lightly as a direwolf also came to examine Kuar, it was as though the creatures could sense he wasn't just another human. But he was, the only thing that made him different..was his age. He was old enough to have seen this city built, human kingdoms rise and fall. It was amazing to him still how the societies after the Oblivion wars had created and settled so well. Kuar reached down and patted Khalid on the head "Let them sate their curiosity, it would be worse if Valerius was here with me you know." Kuar smiled when he saw Khalid give a exasperated sigh of how he knew. Kuar continued on his way, enjoying the scenery before him. But truth be told, he hadn't made it very far past the gates. He took his time, as time was all he had now. Immortality was a burden he had to carry, but to give one their freedom, it was worth it.

Kuar was curious who would be at the gala this year, as many were expected to show since the drake trials overlapped with it this year. It was always an amazing sight to see the drake bond with its dragoon. But Kuar himself was always uneasy around drakes because of the history in the Nors. But that was in his past now, a long LONG time ago in his past. He chuckled at the thought of suddenly showing back home in the nors and everyone disbelieving he existed, or even that he was a descendant of that family. But, who cared, he didn't like noble class, but still periodically indulge in the benefits of it.

He stretched his arms out wide before asking Pyry, his ice rune companion "So what shall we do tonight? " The little rune thrilled at the question and suddenly took off, Kuar having to chase after him. "Pyry get back here! I said WE not you!" It took a few minutes, and a few..very disgruntled people, but Kuar finally caught up to the rune. He leaned over on his legs to catch his breath as he noticed the rune chowing down on a delicious cake.. He held out a talon full as if to share with Kuar as the baker of said cake glared at them both. Kuar sighed pulling baubles out of his pocket and handing it to the man "Im sure this will cover the cost and damages.." He stared at Pyry and shook his head as the rune seemed to chuckle and dig in to its meal.

Re: Nothing Is Ever As It Seems - Open!

Postby SkieNight » Sun Aug 23, 2015 1:32 am

The evening was neither hot nor cold. In truth, it was rather pleasant with a gentle breeze that could be felt if you were standing outside of the huge white walls of the city. The moon was high, and people were either out walking the streets or tucked away in their homes preparing for the upcoming days that were sure to be busy for everyone. The Gala was coming up, and it seemed that the entire city was excited for it, despite the Drake Trials having just taken place earlier in the year. A little ways down the road from the great gates of the city was a young woman. Despite the pleasant evening, a scarf was wrapped around her neck; it looked light bluish-gray in the lunar light. She made her way slowly down the dirt road towards the gates, as though looking for an excuse to stop or turn around.

The Prong Fox at her hip yipped slightly and tugged at her khaki pants as it tired to pull her down the road at a quicker pace. She brushed off the animal with a groan and looked back up at the washed out walls that loomed over her and her two companions. Bright lights shimmered from beyond the gates. Despite having passed the city many times during her various travels Ebony had never once stopped foot in Alabaster. She had made a promise to herself she never would, but it looked like that promise was about to be broken.

Her mind drifted to the odd invitation that was currently tucked away in her. She had woken up one morning, some weeks prior, to find that a Messenger Rune was waiting at the front desk of the inn she had been staying at. It must have been a mistake, the young woman argued with the man behind the desk, no one ever sent her letters, but as it turned out Ebony Sigal Tinang was not a common name and the letter had been addressed to a person with such a name. Two days later she was on the road heading north, and in the blink of an eye the young half-blood found herself staring at the large white walls that towered over her. She still didn't know who had sent the invitation or why they would have invited someone of her kind to such an extravagant event, but that was why she was here. To find out the meaning of the note. Ebony thought she had kept a low profile; she only stole when necessary and only revealed her violet eye when the situation called for it. No one should have been able to connect any of her personals to each other. But someone had and she was determined to find out who they were and what they wanted from her.

The small rune at her shoulder poked at her cheek. When Ebony glanced over she was met with a concerned pair of glowing green eyes. Even if she wasn't bonded with Nitor she had been with the small Rune long enough to know what it was trying to say. "I'm fine. Let's just go in and go out. I don't think I'll be able to stand three days in there." The Rune did not reply, only blinked and watched her slowly. Taking in a breath Ebony grasped the strap of her bag with one hand and started down the road at a faster pace, following just behind the fox that pranced in front of her. Her other hand stayed swaying by her side just barely brushing a small dagger strapped to her hip. Ebony chewed at the inside of her cheek as the bright lights of the city drew closer and soon surrounded her as she passed through the gates of the Northern capital.

Night watch.
Again.
As Mei sat astride her drake's saddle, she thought she must be the unluckiest dragoon ever born. But that wasn't quite fair. At least she was still a dragoon.
Mei was from a noble family, and a long line of dragoons, so it was a surprise to no one that she followed in her parents' footsteps. But that didn't stop her from being in constant awe of her own bond. Teovanth, the drake in question, was perched atop the city's white wall, her snow-white scales gleaming in the moonlight. If not for the gold of her armor and the orange-red of her wing sails, she would have matched the wall perfectly.
Teovanth's head was lowered downwards, surveying the steady stream of people entering the city. She would know, in the way animals do, if anyone was up to no good. Trusting in her drake's intelligence, Mei relaxed in the saddle, one hand casually resting on the hilt of her sword. She rolled her head from side to side, a quiet groan escaping her. The shield she bore on her back, protective as it was, was heavy, as was her plate armor. Sometimes she didn't see the point. No one was brave enough- or stupid enough- to attack a dragoon and their bonded drake.
Despite her boredom and frustration with the task at hand, Mei was the perfect picture of what a dragoon should be. Her and her drake both wore armor so polished it shone. Teovanth was hugely powerful, lithe-necked and whip-tailed, her muscles sliding under smooth scales as she shifted her position to better grip the wall with her wing-claws. Mei looked out at the world from behind a winged helm, and her sword was sharpened to a deadly edge. She carried little with her- Teovanth was bred for battle, not travel, and Mei had no reason to leave her home city- but nonetheless, there was a small saddlebag attached to the drake's harness. It was fine leather, stamped with her family's crest. Inside were rations and basic medical supplies. Just in case. On the other side, a crossbow was lashed to the saddle. A sword won't do much good fighting from the sky.
But it didn't look like they'd be doing much fighting at all anytime soon. Sometimes Mei wished something bad- catastrophic, even- would happen, just so her life would be a little less boring. At least there was the Gala to look forward to. Mei was one of the few lucky dragoons assigned to ensure the festivities progressed safely- which was practically as good as attending as a civilian. She didn't know much about what was going on- she had only received her assignment earlier that day, and her higher-ups loved to operate on a need-to-know basis- but she knew it would be good.
If everything went smoothly, she would have plenty of time to enjoy the gala. For once, Mei was hoping there wouldn't be trouble. Parties are more fun without people running every which way and screaming. But everything would be fine. Of course it would! Who would be stupid enough to sabotage an event smack in the middle of the famed Alabaster City?

It was much too pleasant of a night to be returning to a place of broken dreams. The way the moonlight reflected off the stark white walls was almost blinding, and the plainly dressed Avian decided to add that to the long list of reasons to never come back to his birthplace in his life. After having recently trekked through a mountain range, he was greatful for the temperate weather, if that counted for anything.

He was pulled from his judgmental thoughts as a cream colored Rune Dragon happily tugged at a light brown feather. Startled, he instinctively swatted the small creature away, being as gentle as he could since Emelyn was sure to be angry if he hurt a single feather on the dragon's little head. If this what being between a rock and a hard place was like, it was oddly fluffy.

His legs froze as he tried to enter the city. Why was he here just for a social event that involved... socializing? Most likely with some people who already knew he once lived here. Maybe even his mom or dad. Oh dear, people were staring at him now. He really didn't mean to hold up traffic, but if people would be watching him... A violet Griffin quickly nudged the frightened Avian, trying to get him through the gates at least. After a good few minutes, and a few offers of help from passerby (and some impatient shouts), the Griffin successfully pushed the frightened man in through the gates, with their Rune Dragon companion following closely behind.

He pressed his back up against a nearby shop, legs giving out beneath him. Shakily pressing a hand to his forehead he just sighed in defeat. Why was he here? This was a bad idea. Gala or not, he just wanted to run away from this place. It was too late to leave now anyway and Emelyn was staring at him with her bright blue eyes, and then angrily swished her tail, making him sweat even more. He was just tired now, bickering with Kita or not, he grabbed the Rune Dragon, pulled her to his chest, and decided to rest for a while behind whatever building this was.

Wouldn't this be an adventure.

The brisk night air cooled Tyrik's face as he passed through the gate to Alabaster City. Despite his constant traveling, he'd never stepped foot within the city nor had he laid eyes upon its famed white walls. Moonlight reflected off of the stone, it's soft glow adding to the light of the lamps that the glassworks so tediously kept lit.
Tyrik pulled his worn invitation from his pocket, poring for the hundredth time over the faded writing and bright red seal. He muttered to himself as he skimmed over the words.
"'Golden Lion?'" he asked aloud, looking to his bond, Zeru. "What's that?" The griffin gave Tyrik a look similar to his own -- he had no idea. Ah, well. Tyrik pocketed the invitation once more, gazing out at the city. They would find out sooner or later if they were going to this gala. And while sooner was better, it would be good to explore a little and get to know Alabaster.
Turning around, Tyrik looked back at the great wall that enveloped the entire city. He had thought it would be more ominous, but it seemed more protective, somehow. Like it would rather keep those who would do its people harm out than keep the said people in. Although, Tyrik thought, there must be some who feel otherwise. Who knew? Maybe he would meet someone like that while he was here.
His attention strayed, however, when it caught on a pale shadow that fell accross the wall. It was long and thin, though it belonged to something very, very large. Tyrik's eyes followed the shadow up the wall to a massive white drake and its rider, their matching armor glinting in the moonlight. The beast was magnificent and proud, its long neck curving gracefully as it eyed the land below, and someone who could only be a Dragoon sat in the saddle.
It took a moment to realize that the sight of the magnificent duo had literally taken his breath away. Tyrik had to turn sharply to snap himself out of his daze.
    “Right. So, the ‘Golden Lion...’”
They walked along for a while as they thought, keeping an eye out for the Gala's venue or any indication of it.
Their search was interrupted when Zeru’s ears pricked forward. Tyrik turned his full attention to the griffin. This could either be something incredibly important or incredibly stupid. Hopefully it was the former.
“What is it?” Tyrik asked. Zeru decided not to respond, instead snatching the Avian’s shirt in his beak and taking off, dragging him through the streets on foot.
“You could at least drag me through the air -- ow -- where there aren’t as many things to crash into!” he shouted. It took a lot of volume to be heard over the outraged cries of Alabaster citizens that Zeru had bowled over and the scraping of cobblestone streets beneath him. That and various “ow’s” and “hey’s” and other annoyed shouts of mild pain. A few blocks, a couple of bruises, and plenty of scrapes later, Zeru came to a halt, dropping Tyrik’s shirt.
“What was that for?!” he hissed, picking himself up off the ground and punching Zeru in the shoulder, then grumbled, “This had better be worth it.”
Zeru hit Tyrik with his wing before bobbing his head, gesturing around the corner. Tyrik consented, walking carefully around the corner.
He hadn't expected what he came across. Someone was curled up against the wall of the building, a Rune dragon on his arms and a Griffin by his side. But what really made it strange was the boy's wings. An Avian, it had to be. But what was an Avian doing in Alabaster City? Tyrik surpassed a laugh. He'd been asking himself the same question for the last hour. His eyebrows drew together in concern instead. Zeru's talons had clicked at a good volume on the cobblestone streets, but Tyrik kept his voice low in case that wasn't warning enough to not startle the boy.
"Are you alright?" he asked, stepping carefully forward and hopefully out of any shadows.

Re: Nothing Is Ever As It Seems - Open!

Postby SkieNight » Thu Sep 03, 2015 11:46 pm

The young woman felt small passing through the large white gates of the city, well smaller than usual. She was use to being shorter than people, not that she was tiny, but standing at exactly average hight meant that while half the time people were short than she was, the other half they were taller. She stopped just inside the gate, tilting her head back to admire the smooth cut white stone. It glittered in the light of the moon and stars. Something about it was breath taking but also unsettling, cold, while many would have found the open gate inviting something stopped her short. It made her stomach twist. It reminded her of may years ago when she too lived in a warm, but closed off community. Well, warm... to anyone else.

She was pulling on the scarf around her neck, suddenly feeling hot and trapped under the thin fabric when someone pushed past her sending her knocking into two other people. Ebony was quick to pull away, as though their touches burned, and made sure to keep her head down so that her hair fell back over her eye. She couldn't take any chances, not when it seemed like one person already knew who and what she was. Grumbling an apology, she slid to the side and stood in a shadow of what she thought was the gate. She still had barely made it inside and already she wanted out and to keep walking. The small run at her shoulder chirped and brushed her hair to the side with its button nose. "We're going to the Western Kingdom next, I hear it it's scarcely populated." She grumbled rubbing the bridge of her nose with her hands. The small rune gave another, more urgent sounding chirp. She caste a glance at Nitor. "What?"

Asetin, who had sadly made his way back to his traveling companion when he realized that she was no longer following him, blinked up at her before tilting his head farther back to look at the sky. The fox's eyes went wide and his tall ears fell flat against his head. Giving a small yip the fox's fur rose slightly. Ebony blinked down at her Prong Fox companion. "You too?" The fox gave another yip, pulling at her khaki shorts until he was brushed off by her hand. "Seriously you guys." Something caught the corner of her eye, movement of some sort. She looked to her right but saw nothing, just empty air only it moved again. It looked as though the very ground was moving, only it wasn't the ground but the darkness over the ground. Simply a shadow. Looking over the ground Ebony realized the shade she was standing in was one large shadow. Slowly she looked up to see the gleam of metal. A huge mass sat atop the wall, just above where she was standing. Ebony had never seen a Drake in person, and while part of her had always been curious she had always known that there was a reason she never wanted to see meet with one, in the wild or otherwise. The reason stood above her now. They were huge. Her stomach dropped as she stood, head back, eyes focused solely on the large beast just above her..
