Anita:
"We may have some bones in the kitchen that may keep him busy." Anita teased. "If we are lucky the sun will be just right and the reflections can entertain him." Anita looked down at wolf Ren and smirked. She didn't know when he would change back to his human form let alone his elemental form.

"All jokes aside, yes. Ren can accompany me and we shall all meet back at the castle by nightfall to discuss what we found." Anita looked around the group. "Any questions or comments?"

Anita wanted to get moving before anyone became suspicious of the group. Emmet's curiosity was enough. And with Ren's actions towards Emmet made her even more nervous. Sure Ren could take care of himself, but he was no match to lion Emmet.

Raylynne

As they started walking through the market, Ray the glimpse a small white figure scurry underneath a table. She only knew of one small white creature and almost felt relieved when she saw her only friend near her. But that aside, she needed to watch what she said to Elian in fear of Jharna overhearing the wrong things.

When Elian stopped her in her tracks and spoke her real name, the wind picked up around the man.

"How many times must i remind you never to say that name." She spoke through gritted teeth.

She despised that name. Ever since she returned from her training, Ray informed everyone of her new name. She was never to be addressed as Raylynne again. That was her child name. Her past life. It was a new her, so she deserved a new name. Just the thought of her old self made Ray sick. She did not need the constant reminder of her past.

The wind died down as she controlled herself again. "Sudden change of plans." She continued on walking as if nothing had happened. "I've been assigned to aid the prince in his quest, if you must call it that. They are in search of some weapons that can enable the wielder to destroy their opponents effortlessly. Now i would allow him to return them to Beaugro but i feel as though Ren has other plans for the weapons than to take them back to dear old daddy. He seems to have taken interest in your so called queen. Disgusting." Ray stopped talking for a moment, looking Elian up and down in disgust, remembering he was a feline as well.

"Our goal is going to be carried through earlier than expected. But no worries. The twerp is vulnerable. The boy is going through a sort of...let's say...multiple personalities?" Ray stopped in her tracks and turned to face Elian, arms crossed. "That's not going to be a problem now is it?"

      Shahar:
{"Then it is settled; Gale, Elwin, Owen and I will see what information we can find from the library. I am assuming you can point us in the right direction?" Shahar replied cooly, avoiding Anita's playful banter.

Unconsciously, her stance shifted into the standard military at ease position as she spoke, her feet widening to shoulder length and hands clasped behind her back. Issuing orders and developing a plan at least leant some control back to the situation, and Shahar found it easier to slip back into her militant composure. While the dress her sister had chosen for her was still an unwelcome change of attire, the smooth blades hidden beneath the fabric offered some form of solace.

In truth, Shahar also felt some relief that Ren would now be accompanying Anita. The prince's childish antics had already worn on her rapidly fraying nerves, and she was unsure how much longer she could endure his acts without snapping; not here; not under these circumstances.

She also possessed some hope that Elwin and Owen's presence would be able to mask her and Gale's elemental attributes, at least until they got what they needed. After all, poking around the tribe's historical library was hardly likely to get them unnoticed.

With the topic of shifters now at the forefront of her mind, Shahar took one last sweeping gaze at the group assembled outside. While her grandmother was still hobbling along outside the house, at a slow yet steady pace, there seemed to be one missing from the scene.

"And does anyone know where Jharna has disappeared to?"

      Elian:
{"Ah, I'm sorry Ray," Elian apologized hastily, blanching at the elemental's irritated response. Her aggravation was quite literally palpable, the pressing wind an unsettling phenomenon.

It was an effort not to flinch away from the woman's degrading glance, a trait that he had become accustomed to many years ago, yet nevertheless never ceased to sting. Already caught off guard by her sudden appearance, Ray's words only managed to stir up further anxiety in his gut. He had already learned a time ago that a 'sudden change of plans' was rarely a good thing.

"O-of course not, Ray," Elian managed to stammer at her direct inquiry, taking care to choose his next words more carefully. "Where do we go from here?"

Anita Belle Gunthner
"Of course," Anita replied to Shahar. "If you make your way back to the castle, there will be a large building to your left. It is much larger than the ones surrounding it so you will easily spot it. That is where all the books on the tribe's history are located." Anita scanned the group. "I hope we will all find something useful."

Anita didn't want to wait any longer than a day to set off for the ruins. Either Ren found a way to change back and get the map, or they find something useful within the tribe. There was no telling what lay ahead of them, and she wanted to go in as prepared as possible.

Hearing Shahar's comment, Anita looked around, finally realizing the little girl had wandered off.

"I haven't the slightest clue." Anita spoke. "I will be sure to keep a lookout for her as we go. But for now, we must focus on the task at hand."

Anita bent down to look Caroline in the eyes.

"Caroline," She spoke softly, adjusting the messy straps on the girl's dress. "I would like you to go to the castle and wait for me there, alright? I just need to go talk to some people first."

Caroline seemed reluctant to leave the Queen's side but eventually nodded her head slightly.

"Thank you. This young lady will guide you back so you will not feel lonely alright?" Standing up, Anita guided Caroline towards Shahar and placed Caroline's hand in her sister's.

"Her name is Shahar. She is very kind and will take good care of you. When you reach the castle, let Phillis know I sent you. She will make you feel at home."

Caroline nodded at Anita before jumping up and giving the queen a big hug. Anita could feel the girl choke back tears as she dug her face into Anita's dress. Looking at the girl, Anita watched Caroline wipe a stray tear off her cheek before turning to look at Shahar. Caroline then grabbed her hand and began walking towards the castle with Shahar in tow.

Anita stood up and watched the group wander off into the tribe. She then looked over at Ren.

"We must be heading off as well. Come." Anita began walking towards the market where she knew lots of people would be. That was their best bet on finding someone with answers. Behind them, Emmet left the building and watched as the group parted. He watched them with concern before leaving in the opposite direction.

Raylynne Lana Kelane
Ray clenched her teeth at Elian's stammering. He really needed to learn to control himself. She really wondered how he hadn't given her away yet. The man was a terrible liar and you could always tell when he was hiding something. He didn't do very good under pressure either.

"Right now there is no "we". I will continue my task and escort the prince to his destination. There are two others in my party that are aware of our intentions. There is no need for you to accompany us. I will deal with the issue at hand. But I will need your assistance back at Beaugro. Our grande finale. Just remember what I have promised you. We will not fail."

Years they have been waiting for this opportunity. Elian had followed her like a puppy, or kitten, ever since his slavery band was bestowed upon him. But she made his suffering worth it when she promised him his fair share. He would be rewarded for his long lasting loyalty to her.

"After I have finished with the party, I will return to Beaugro where I expect you will be. But by all means. Take a few days. Gather your things. Say goodbye. Whatever you weaklings do."

The speed of Ray's departure left him no option to countermand the action. He let her go reluctantly and followed the rest into the house.

When Edna's closer look failed to bring any more than mistaken recognition, Gale kept his eyes lowered and let the conversation continue without his voice. The less attention directed toward him the less likely any of Anita's people would be to discover the first commander lurking beneath the drab manservant.

His control was tested twice more, first when Emmet questioned Anita and later when the feline princess sent Darth off in search of Ray. Anita brushed off the lion's curiosity with a fair tale, but the wolf loped off as if he'd been waiting for just such a chance since the beginning. Ray had done nothing but balk at his orders the whole of their journey. The thought of the two of them given time to speak in private did little to ease his suspicions.

Gale slouched in a much less rigid form of Shahar's military rest, his voice a soft counterpoint to her question. "Wherever she's gone, I doubt that she'll be seen if she's choosing to hide. We should move on to the library and see what there is to find. I'm afraid most of my training is in battle rather than scholarship, so I'm not sure how much help I'll be."

---

"I can read the older wolf documents," Owen volunteered. If he wasn't going to be able to follow Darth and manage a word in private, he thought he might at least make the trip entertaining. "I have a reading knowledge of a few other old languages as well."

(Hey guys, I have another part for Ren and Reza but haven't had time to finish it so this is all you get tonight. ;))

Arriving at the market Darth browsed various venders looking at everything from herbs to weapons to cloth. His presence was relatively ignored, while wolves were not common in the feline tribe, everyone seemed to accept him and his shifter flaws rather well and only addressed him to answer questions or when impolite to not do so.

He had a good eye for the tools of his trade, however was starting to look at cheaper alternatives after losing part of a set of custom made throwing knives to an assignation. Retrieving the precious items would have been to risky from the body of such a high profile individual. Yet using anything less then that set would have given him less accuracy, leaving him torn over future endeavors.

His sense of smell told him that Ray was near but he had little interest in finding her too quickly. Instead he was about to himself to traditional feline cuisine when he noticed the odd flowery scent he so accosted with the small white rabbit Jharna.

It took little time to find the creature, to which he squatted down to fully view. "Jharna?"

--

The semi-familiar voice both soothed and startled the girl causing her to shake like a leaf as she peered up at the man. Two white fangs forever loomed over his lower lip reminding her of the childhood stories were blood sucking monsters would prayed on people while they slept. His emerald green eyes were as cold as the stone they so full-heartily mimicked. As his hands wrapped around her quivering body she fought the urge to bit into the golden brown flesh.

--

Pressing her to his chest he stayed on the ground and whispered a soft soothing noise. "Your alright." Holding the soft ball of fur close until the trembling eventually slowed then stopped. Once he felt she was calm enough he held her out and placed her on the ground by his feet, remanding on her level.

"Have you ever tried the flesh of a white pine nut? They are a sessional thing to this region and not something to miss a chance at." He offered as conversation to the still shaken girl. They had traveled mostly in silence with Ray until finding the group. However he had noticed the way she would linger at the feet of those she cared for, once or twice he had even found her soft white fur next to his arm as he rose from sleep or hung by the fire.

Jharna shook her head, ears perking up in curiosity to the man's offer.

"Well then." Darth said easing to a standing position. "Lets see, I feel I saw a vender down that way. Would you like me to carry you or do you want to walk?" He had no more asked then felt the push of paws on his pants and shoe. She reached up his leg in a 'pick me up' kind of way he imagined a puppy would do.

Scooping her up he let her back legs rest on his left arm while her for limbs pressed into his right. She was mindful of her sharp toe nails, much to his relief. Even when shifting her weight to lay on her back feet while sprawling her upper body on his chest when time came for him to fish money from a pocket.

Darth learned two things as he bought food then retreated benign a set of trees with the rabbit: one that Jharna could eat more food then he found plausible for her size and two that a man toting around a fluffy white rabbit was a new and unfortunate way to pick up women. It was an unwanted change from the previously professional experience he had been enjoying.

Walking through the market had caused an uproar of loving coos from women as they piled around him to comment on the adorable rabbit or how cute he himself was by proxy. Jharna had not helped with the situation, her ears would perk up and in a almost an adorable way she would accept head scratches that resulted in a leg thump that made holding the exited ball of fur a challenge. It was only when a feline women close to his age had run a hand suggestively along his tail that the fangs came out.

With a snarl he had left the group in the dust, only to reluctantly find another group as they waited in line for food. Retreating into a less crowded area had been of great relief. He had grown so accustomed to her creature form that to find a young women sitting next to him nearly caused him to spring from his seat. "Jharna, sorry you just. Wow.." he said pressing his hand to his chest as the adrenalin passed. Her bright eyed smile shown both pleasure at the startle and concern.

He looked her up and down for a moment, the behavior of the white rabbit had so reminded him of a young child that to see a young women in front of him was hard to accept. "Jharna, do you mind if I ask how old you are?"

Her eyes fell to the ground as a stream of long white hair slide from behind her ear cascading over her face. 'Well at least the shy behavior was constant.' Darth thought as he leaded over slightly to try and peer into her eyes, a wolf like curiously getting the better of him. He had asked a question and wanted an answer.

To his shock she peered back up at him with a impish look to her. "18" Her voice was so soft the words could have been wishful thinking on his part.

"18?" Darth repeated to be sure he had indeed heard correctly. A little nod confirmed his request. "Well, if that doesn't just take all. I could have sworn you were no more then eight or nine."

She smiled warmly at him, a slight rosiness to her cheeks before leaning her side into his. Reluctantly he draped an arm over her so she could more comfortably rest. She looked exhausted, he imagined getting that worked up over every little thing must be wearing. However he wasn't really looking to be seen by Ren or anyone for that matter with an arm draped around Beaugro's eldest princess. It would send the wrong impression and could jeopardies his plans.

"If you want to become a rabbit again we could go find the others, I am happy to carry you if you want to sleep." She shook her head before nuzzling into his breast, pulling her legs onto the bench and forcing him to lean a little to better support her.

"Look this is going to come off wrong, but I can't get caught with you snuggling up to me." Her eyes peered up at him with a questioning look. "Your brother may not act like he cares about you but I can guarantee he would slit my throat if he thought for one minute that I was making a move on his sister."

She seemed to accept this, though reluctantly and changed back into a rabbit form before curling up in his arms. He had half a mind to place her back on the bench but though otherwise, instead he made himself comfortable, letting her rest against him in the shade. They had time and he for one didn't mind the idea of catching a quick nap if given the chance.

      Shahar:
{Blinking in surprise as she came to terms with Anita's comment, Shahar glanced down at the girl now clutching her hand, unintentionally stiffening under the girl's touch. Watery tears still flooded her bright eyes, and a pitiful sniffling trembled from her throat.

"Anita," Shahar hissed softly through clenched teeth, eyes flicking between her sister and Caroline in protest.

What ever had possessed Anita to place the wellbeing of the distressed girl in Shahar's hands was beyond her, except perhaps the fact that she had known the girl since infancy. Not that she had had much contact with the girl during that time, though. The words "Shahar", or even "Rachel", had never tended to appear alongside that of "child".

Despite her own unease, Anita seemed to have already made up her mind on the issue. To argue with her would only prolong their task, as well as likely upset Caroline even further; hardly a situation she felt prepared to deal with. To be quite frank, she would have preferred an actual fight.

A low rumble that resembled a growl echoing at the back of her throat, Shahar allowed herself to be dragged forward by Caroline without further protest. Still, she remained strangely uneasy at being guided by the small child, and Gale's comment became a welcome distraction.

"I cannot guarantee there will even be texts to study," Shahar spoke softly to Gale as she fell into pace with him, scowling lightly as the slight slowing of her steps earned a tug on her hand. "Many of the older texts, the ones that mention the Old Kingdom, have been destroyed over the years, and not many were in good condition; even well before I left. There may not be any information to find."

Shrugging slightly, and ensuring her voice was low enough not to carry to the others, she continued. "The future survival of a people will always trump the survival of their past. In the raids, not many exactly bothered to protect the libraries."

      Elian:
{Wincing internally at Ray's sharp retort, there was little more he could do than nod weakly in return. "Of course," he replied, clearing his throat nervously. "Keep me updated if you can. And I'll - I'll see you soon, Ray."

Ren felt to be an odd observer to the events that unfolded before the party. With half the group taking off and the rest to be divided among groups to seek out information, he had not gotten a chance to express his concerns with Gale nor keep an eye on Ray and Darth, two individuals he did not want alone.

Taking Shahar's advice Ren remained quite, even responses less to Anita's slight at his wolf from. Bones and reflections were the last thing on his mind. He chose to follow the queen in silence, observing the strange ways of Feline society.

A small tinge of guilt hung over him, from the knowledge that in his pocket rested the cure to this disease. However they were merely shifters and Anita had not secured the location of the ruins yet, so by their agreement it was yet to be his fault. These deaths were not on his hands, after all even if they were who really cared about a few stray cats anyway?

Anita

Anita didn't even notice her sister's irritated expressions. She was too focused on the task ahead. With Ren at her side, Anita needed to find out all she could about the abandoned ruins. And quickly. There was no time to waste when her tribe was dying.

As they walked in silence, Anita looked down at Ren's wolf form, partially to check if he was still beside her, and wondering why he was so quiet. Was something bothering him? She wanted to know.

Shaking her head, Anita looked ahead of her. She needed to focus on the task at hand. She could deal with other things later.

The market started coming into view and Anita could see many people wandering about. There was even a giant pair of white swan wings that floated through the crowd of cats. They made their way to the outskirts and Anita saw an Avian shifter leave the market. One of the few refuge shifters that found a home in the feline territory. The white haired woman smiled and nodded as she walked by and Anita returned the gesture.

Spotting an older woman leaving the market, Anita thought she could ask her. She must have more experience that could possibly help out in their search.

"Excuse me ma'am." Anita called out.

"Oh. Good evening my Queen. What can I do for you?" The lady curtsied when she introduced and had a wide smile on her face, revealing sharp feline fangs.

"Good evening to you as well. I just have a few questions if you do not mind."

"Of course! What would you like to know?"

"I am curious as to what people know about the abandoned ruins of Snowden. Do you happen to know of any castle like that?"

"Hhmm. Snowden you say? Yes. Well. I have heard of such stories. But that is really all they are. Just stories. No solid information"

"What can you tell me about those stories?"

"I am sure you have heard these stories as a child, but of course i can refresh your memory. Many years ago, Snowden was once the thriving capitol of the feline territory. It resided on the coast and was very dependant on their overseas trade. Millions of people called Snowden home and even the farmers found their place on its outskirts. Much like our home is now, Snowden also changed their home to fit the environment, not the other way around. Rumour had it that the king was once in possession of some magical items. Ones that would grant the holder great power. He hid them away somewhere only he would know so no one would be able to steal them. That is all I know. I hope that clarified things for you."

"Do you know where Snowden would have been?"

"All I know is it was on a coast somewhere. Although, the stories did mention that the waters often froze over so it must have been in a cold area."

"Thank you for your time."

"Of course your majesty. I am always open to talk to." The woman smiled and curtsied before continuing off out of the market.

Anita looked down at Ren, wondering if he was listening to anything the woman said.

"At least we found something that could be useful. Let us keep asking around." With that, she continued towards the market.

Ray

"Watch the winds. They carry important messages." Without another word, Ray turned around and walked back to the market. She wondered where Jharna had wandered off to, but more importantly, if Darth or Owen had been able to split from the group. She needed that time to talk to them before they reunited with the group.

Reaching the market once more, Ray looked around for any signs of the two Canine shifters. She couldn't spot them inside so decided to skim the outskirts. Just as she was passing a stall, she spotted Darth sitting on a bench a few stalls away. Once they made eye contact, Ray gave him a, "We need to talk" look before walking away. They couldn't talk in a big crowd of people so she needed to get to a quiet part outside the market.

Finding a lone tree, Ray positioned herself under its shade and waited for Darth to catch up.

~Darth~

Darth had begun to doze off when the motion of Ray’s approach caught his eye. From her expression it appeared she intended a word with him, doubtlessly alone. In fact the lack of Owen’s presence caused a contemptuous smirk in the wolf. How could such a child as Ray pretended to command him when she couldn’t even keep a charge as wiling to please as Owen in line?

The position of Beta drove him to constantly seek a powerful Alpha to serve. Common to wolf society unfit Alphas were removed, often violently by competitors and or if the risk to their Beta’s life outweighs serves, their own second in command may remove them. To see weakness in an Alpha, even one assigned to him was more frustrating then he could rightfully conceal. Weeks of this behavior had pushed him to far, it was time to act.

Carefully lifting the small bundle of fur from his arms he placed Jharna on the bench next to him. Her groggy gaze peered up at him questioning the disturbance.

“Stay here, I will be back momentarily.” The command was not open for question, he gave her no time to respond before setting out. Even if she were to wonder off her smell was all over his arms, making it effortless to track the white rabbit.

Ray having walked from his line of sight caused him to wonder a little while pin pointing the slightly sweet fragrance that still clung to her hair. In Beaugro this scent was commonly associated with shampoo, coming from the distillation of native flowers in the region. To his pleasure the felines seemed to have a better taste in perfumes. Being of a shifter class with sensitive noses themselves, they toned down the sensory assault to hints rather than the potent concoction so many elementals drenched themselves in. The fact that his approach to her did not burn his sense was due to her lack of access to proper bathing situations, preventing the girl from re-coat herself. It had come as one of the few pleasantries as their trip had progressed.

Passing under low laying branches his eyes locked with hers, a direct challenge of dominance for any wolf. From the moment he had stepped into the shade to the instant he had come to stand feet from her, his mind was on one task. Ray was going to take control of this situation now, if she failed to meet his expectations in this interaction he would server her no longer.

“Yes?” His hand came to rest in a natural stance along his side, within easy grasp of a concealed blade. It was an unconscious, useful habit he had fallen into. Fingertips brushed the weapon, giving a fleeting image of the blade against her throat. After all who would question her disappearance? None of the group seemed particularly attached to her, minus Jharna, who could be comforted easily enough.

If his stance came off as threatening, it was by no mistake. Though he doubted her understanding of wolves to be enough to fully grasp the gravity of his behavior. She was far more likely to see his posturing as disrespectful, his tone as uninterested. Overlooking the finality of his perspective.

      Shahar:
{Shahar completed their journey in silence, all too glad to hand the care of Caroline over to the castle guards. Once assured the girl was in the care of a few individuals Shahar recognized from earlier and her sister's orders were relayed clearly to them, she turned heel and led the remainder of their group towards the library. The route was nearly second nature, engrained in her mind even after all these years. Anita's instructions were merely a formality.

Glancing back only occasionally to ensure Gale, Elwin, and Owen kept pace, Shahar's eyes remained focused ahead, diligently scanning the individuals beyond them. Although a small reasoning behind the gesture was to remain wary of those familiar faces that may also recognize her, it was more so to keep an eye out for Darth and Ray. None of their actions thus far had managed to elicit so much as a glimmer of trust from her, and she'd prefer to know where they were, and what they were doing.

Despite her best efforts, they reached the library with little to report. Aside from a few individuals that appeared to be browsing the shelves on the main floor, the area seemed to be devoid of life. A perfect situation, given the composition of their group.

What came as the most surprise was how little the area appeared to have changed since Shahar had last set foot there. The magnificent architecture that had once comprised the entire library, not unlike the castle, had fallen into disrepair following the attack. The largest amounts of damage had been repaired, but it seemed to have been in a rush, likely in order to move onto the more essential buildings. It resulted in a strange, and not altogether pleasant, blend of old and new, beauty and practicality. Still, it was that which lay within the library that possessed her focus.

Entering the dim building, it took a moment for Shahar's eyes to adjust to the change in light before she able to see clearly. A few curious looks were thrown their way, no doubt the result of them wondering who these newcomers were. Shahar moved past them without a second glance, taking on the meandering pace of one exploring a new building in interest. Eyes raking down the shelves without truly taking in their contents, Shahar finally spotted what she had been looking for. Tucked away in a corner on one of the upper levels were the weathered texts they were in search of.

The moment the final curious glances faded away, Shahar's stride took on a far more determined step, leading them to their destination. Picking up one of the books with great care, she glanced over her shoulder at her three companions and pitched her voice low so not to carry.

"How well versed are you all on the feline tribe language?"
