{Viera quickly took down their information, entering it into the system with systematic efficiency. Hearing only the first two voices, she allowed their final guest to remain quiet for the time being as she searched for Anikalo and Aralio. The results, however, were not as she expected. Basics came up to match their finger prints, age, and names, as well as accompanying information, but it was all relatively limited. Not many records or links to their past life, which was curious to say the least.

She remained rather quiet as she fired away a few more searches, attempting to find the missing link to their parents, or home, or anything of relevance to that moment. Stymied at every turn, the best she could come up with were a few classified files tucked away into the system, with an access requirement of an officer well above her rank. Furrowing her brows, Viera leaned back as she glanced to Taraid.

"Would you mind taking over this for me? I'm going to see if I can't find Ronan," she said quickly as she turned to stand, already ready to stride out of the room.

He responded with a quick nod, already understanding the peculiarity of the circumstances. Turning to the children with a light smile as Viera strode away, he looked at the final one.

"Demario, is it? Do you have a last name, or a date of birth to help us out here?" Taraid asked kindly.

Striding away with quick, purposeful steps, the only reason Viera could come up with for why their information would be considered classified would be whatever had spooked Ronan earlier, when he first caught sight of Anikalo. It had been... An odd reaction, to say the least, and it was obvious there was some history involved there. Viera liked to consider Ronan a prominent figure in her life, taking her in after her parents passed, but he had never in her memory mentioned an incident like this. Although she wasn't certain he would willingly divulge much more information on this subject, it was worth a shot.

Kay watched as Viera’s fingers flew across the keyboard as she punched in their information. The puzzled look on her face showed that something was not matching up. Kay had no idea what would be so wrong. Their parents had died on the force and then they had vanished from sight. How uncommon was that? When Taraid took over for her, Kay watched her walk off. She knew exactly where she was going. Ronan, although not the most approachable character, was the go to person when it came to information. And knowing that they had some connection to Ronan, Viera was surely going to seek his help.

Kay looked back at Tariad when he started talking to Demari. Her eyes glanced over at Demari who stood motionless as he stared at the officer. It didn’t seem as though he was going to give them any information.
To Kay’s disbelief, Demari grabbed a pad of paper and a pen off the desk and began writing. He handed the paper to the man and returned the pen to the holder. On the paper it read, “Demari Kelvin Hansbringer. Born October 31, 6814.” Demari barely even blinked as he stared at the officer. Kay was relieved he didn’t cause them any more trouble than they needed.

{Tariad patiently waited for a response, and when was given on the piece of paper he gave a brief, comforting smile to the boy before entering in the information provided. There was an odd pause in his typing once the action was completed, submitting the data for review.

Where the other two children had had some small gaps in history, and a few tucked away files, Demari's was simply blank. Not even the most basic information was not available to be viewed, or even existed within the system. Such incidents were nigh on unheard of these days, when every citizen was registered in some sort of index at one point or another. Birth, school, homes, jobs... All the major events in an individual's life left behind some sort of trace at some point, and yet there was absolutely no way to verify the information that he had been provided with.

"Well... Demari, is there anything else about yourself you can tell us? Perhaps another name you've been known by before?" Tariad asked, although more out of thoroughness than anything else.

Surely something should have shown up, after all fingerprints weren't exactly things that was easy to reshape or fake. Although setting up some paper and pen beside him, in case Demari could say any more, Taraid fired off a quick message to Viera to inform her of the situation.

Elsewhere, Viera briskly knocked on the door to the Commander's office, but was met with silence. It would seem he had not yet visited his office, although, she mused, that alone was not all too unusual. Despite the endless piles of paperwork that accompanied the higher ups, Ronan never did fancy himself a desk jockey. His attention was always turned abroad, to where his skills could actually be of tangible service to the general populace. It was difficult to predict when he would next be in, so although the curiousity was burning within her, she had to admit leaving a message for him would likely yield better results than remaining here until he eventually returned. It was in the midst of typing an email to him that she received the message from Tariad.

While what had come up with Anikalo and Aralio was rare, it was not completely unheard of. This, on the other hand... Viera could not recall another time she had heard of such an incident, let alone encountered it personally. This was beyond unusual, and with the abnormalities stacking up... She was intrigued by the connection, to say the least.

Kay
When Tairad asked for more information from Demari, Kay's curiosity spiked. From the way he talked it sounded as if there was no information at all on Demari's existence. How could that be possible? There must have been at least a birth certificate. He was alive was he not? Out of the corner of her eye, Kay spotted Demari grab the paper and start writing something down.

"Are you sure you typed it in right?," she questioned. "Demari's an orphan just like us, not some robot."

Demari handed Tairad the piece of paper with two letters written on it. "No"

{"I'm afraid not," Taraid replied a slight shake of his head in response to Anikalo's question. "There's a possibility it's a glitch in the system, unfortunately with a database as large as ours it is prone to happen, in which case there's not all that much we can do right at this moment."

He glanced at the message written from Demari, giving a brief nod in reply. "Thank you anyway, I do appreciate the help. There's not much more to do here, so for now we'll just have to wait for Officer Valois to return."

It took longer than she would have liked, but at long last Ronan appeared at the door of his office, only offering Viera a brief glance as he strode the room. No word of greeting, but that was hardly unusual for him. Engaging in such trivial social etiquettes was not really his style; quite possibly part of the reason he was mainly a behind the scenes commander, and less so a face of the IAF these days.

"These cases just do not stop stacking up," he growled at last, flipping through what appeared to be a myriad of emails on his communicator. "Doctors can't seem to pinpoint any cause for these similar symptoms, and people are on edge. We can only keep up this facade of calm for so long."

And there it was- exactly what had been on the mind of every IAF officer for weeks now, even if most of them were far too timid to say it aloud, perhaps for fear it would make the concern all the more real. The fact was the situation did not seem to be improving in the least, and with each new day simple seemed to deteriorate another degree. If the root of the problem was not discovered soon, they all knew the outcome would not be favourable, for anyone involved.

"Sir," Viera cleared her throat after a moment of silence, hoping to gain his attention. "I'm afraid we've been having some difficulty accessing the basic files of those children we found today. I was hoping you would know more about it."

The statement was enough to cause Ronan to sigh, falling silent for even longer as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Yes- right," Ronan replied after some time, his voice obviously laced with reluctancy. "I figured this would be coming up today. It'll be easiest if it's explained all together, I'll come with you to meet them."

His reluctance in the matter only spurred Viera's interest as she followed him out, taking the lead towards the open office she had left Taraid and company in. Whatever history Ronan possessed with these children seemed to run deep, and left her questioning how in the past few years she had never heard a word about it. Ronan may not be a particularly talkative man, but he was among the closest things she could call a mentor or hell, even family these days. Surely that counted for something....

Viera brushed the thought from her mind just as quickly as it came into existence, pushing the door to the office open with Ronan trailing behind her. Now was not the time for such unfocused thoughts, there was work to be done.

As she listened to Tairad’s limited explanation, Kay’s mind drifted. The room reminded her so much of her past. She could almost remember playing in there with Aralio as children.

The figures of two children danced around in her field of view. A young girl with orange hair and a little boy with shaggy red hair ran around the desks, narrowly avoiding the working officers.

“Kelane!” boomed a voice out of sight. “Control your kids would you?” A man walked into view, carrying a mobile device.

“Lighten up, Ronan,” said another voice as another man came into view. His short brown hair was styled in a slick fashion. His face was very sharp and his blue eyes shone in the light. “Let the kids have a little fun eh? After all, you could learn a thing or two from them.”

“Daddy!” The little red headed boy ran over to the new man with his arms outstretched.

“Come here you trouble maker.” the man hefted the child into the air above his head and the boy giggled. A woman stepped beside them and placed her hand on the man’s shoulder. Her shoulder length dusty blonde hair was tied back in a low bun and her gentle facial features smiled as she saw the two. The little girl ran over to the woman and leaned against her. She was up to the woman’s shoulder and stood tall with pride and maturity although her eyes wandered like a little child’s.

“You think you’re funny, don’t you, Adonis,” Ronan shook his head. The energy between the two men suggested a close relationship. “Just keep them out of trouble.” Ronan walked to past the couple and nodded as he walked by the woman. “Olesia,” he regarded her in a respectful manner.

As Ronan disappeared from sight, a loud bang snapped Kay out of her trance and she turned to see Viera enter the room, followed by Ronan. She knew that as long as they were with the IAF they’d never truly be done dealing with Ronan, but there was a sliver of hope. At that moment, that sliver was pulled right out. Kay’s power focused in on Ronan without her even knowing it and she immediately felt his emotions. Whether it be their appearance or some other factor, he was anxious.

Kay watched him enter and for once, no sarcastic comment escaped her lips. She genuinely wanted to know what was so wrong with her file that Viera had to bring in Ronan.
