Only the faint scent of coffee managed to wake him up. Rubbing his eyes, he looked at the digital clock besides his bed. There was a loud snore coming from the top, which meant Leonardo was in a trance ofdeep sleep. It was still six thirty in the morning; the sun had barely peaked over the skyscrappers that plagued the city. But then again, there was a reason for waking up this early.

There was a huge gaming tournament online for the game known as Renegade Rally. It was a widely popular game with both servers in United States and Japan. Thousands of players had gathered and flocked to this very event to become the number one player as well as a prize of overall $10,000, but the winner was already decided before it had started. He was almost radiating with utmost confidence and enthusium today, anxious to destroy the hopes of all who had gathered.

The gamer quickly slapped on a crimson V-neck shirt, sleek grey collared jacket, and a pair of dark skinny jeans. He deftly applied gel to his hair, skimming it over with a comb, and set off, blue headsets around his neck. Only a smirk left the door, as he made his way through the kitchen.

By the time Moonsong arrived, the coffee was done brewing. He stopped to pour himself a cup, whistling to himself. The others were probably asleep, or still at screens. The gamer took a deep breath, before entering the tech room.

Snoring quietly in her sleep, Shadow adjusted her position in bed. Her dark gray blanket was haphazardly tangled over and under her long limbs. A single foot hung over the edge of the top bunk bed as the exhausted woman continued to slumber. Attempting to untangle her limbs, one foot over the edge became two feet and two arms, sending the half-conscious database was sent hurtling towards the floor... face first.

Groaning quietly, Shadow rubbed her sore face. Turning her head, she snapped open clear green eyes. Mumbling curses at the pesky blanket she threw it back on top of her bed, and proceeded to slip out of her pajamas. She was already awake, and knew she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep so why not start the day right then. Now dressed in a casual black t-shirt with the words "You read my t-shirt, that's enough social interaction for today" coolly written in a crisp white font on the front, and a pair of worn dark blue jeans, she set on a search for coffee.

Taking a whiff of the faint smell of caffeine was all it took to get her fully awake. Remembering the date, she knew it was most likely 'Moonie' who made the coffee, as she so adored calling him. Pouring herself a mug, she took a sip. "Not bad kiddo." she murmured, still too tired to speak properly. Sitting down at the dining table, she put her head to the cool surface as she waited for the coffee to kick in.

Noise. It took only the faint sound of SongMoon getting off the bed to stir the lightsleeper from his rest. He looked over, one of his eyes close, the other wide open. SongMoon, as Leon so habitually called him, much to the former's dismay, had gotten dressed and headed out. He could tell from the cold air and feeling of drowsiness that usually comes with waking up early that the morning had just arrived. Well, he's up, might as-well wake myself.

With a leap, he was off the bed and in a chair, sitting at a mirror with a small desk. He grabbed a comb and brush, and brushed his long silver hair in a specific manner. He sung in a light tone, “Spazzolare i capelli , spazzola verso il basso , che sarà simile a una corona d'argento con una spazzola , spazzola e un pettine o due, mi guardo bene e così anche voi.” Once he was done, he stood up to the larger mirror and put on a white T-shirt, sending a signal of warmth through his previously clothe-less physique , and shivered. Grey sweat pants were the next thing to slip on, the drawstrings already on.

He was a perfectionist, and a massive one at that; he adjusted the the small stone sculptures of Athena and Hephaestus, greek gods he had an fascination with, he had placed on the shelf, noting they had been slightly turned 3 degrees. With his clothes on, hair brushed and statues in perfect angle, Leon walked out of the room after kissing a photo of a blurred figure and into the kitchen.

Leon walked into the kitchen with a murmur and grabbed a tea-bag. He was going to prepare a nice cup of apple tea and a pipping bowl of oatmeal. He slid around the kitchen with the utmost delicateness, grabbing a tea bag, and set two pots on boiling temperature, filling both with enough water to half fill a cup. Next, he took two oat packets, cinnamon and apple brown-sugar, just as he liked it. He took both the tea pots and poured them each into cups. "Alright, It's time for the finale, lets make this a good one!" With a glide, he got a bowl and the tea bag, throwing the tea bag into one of the cups, and slid across the kitched, ripping open the oatmeal packets and pouring them into the bowl; "Alright, 2/3 cups of water..come on Leon..you can do this!" With a whipe of his forehead, he poured the water into the bowl of oatmeal and gently set a plat upon it. "Right... The plate helps keep the heat within the bowl so that the oatmeal cooks faster... Perfect." And..breath, he had done it, made the perfect breakfast. "And I did it within schedule.. only 5 minutes left, enough time for the food to be done steeping and cooking...." Leon suddenly jumped up frantically, "Oh no! I forgot, the hash-browns and biscuit!" He dropped to his knees melo-dramatically and shouted; "Nooo!!The misery! The pain, the anguish, the stupid...The stupid me! Ack!" So Leon settled for a single pop-tart instead of a biscuit, and no replacement for the hash-brown..how terrible, stupid time frames. With his food done, he swiped a large plate, putting the now done bowl of oatmeal, which Leon had drizzled with honey, and topped with chocolate granola. How delicious it is. With his meal in hand, he walked into the tech-room.

"Alrighty then.. lets get today started!"

First, it had been a sleepy database falling out of bed. Then, the sound of certain Leon yelling something about misery [well to be honest that was all she heard]. After that, a small creak as someone came into the tech room. But, it was only the final one that made her creep out of her extremely comfy lump of pillows. Something fell on her head. Now, when you wake up, you want to be greeted with a comfortably-lit room and be feeling relaxed after a good night's sleep. Yours truly got a laptop in the face. A loud grumbling noise was heard from the annoyed person in a prison of blankets.

Esme untangled herself from the heap of blankets. Now, normally she would sleep in the bedroom, on the bottom tier of the bunk bed. Only there was that one fan fiction that she just had to finish, so Esme had grabbed a pile of blankets and proceeded to read till 3 in morning. Then she'd become to tired to walk back to the bedroom that was shared between all the girls. Oh, and being the sometimes-lazy person she was, Esme chose not to set an alarm. Well, she had to get breakfast first, since her stomach wouldn't cease it's incessant growling.

With a yawn, she slowly got up and took a quick look around. Turns out she was in the one cramped corner of the tech room, surrounded by tons of devices, cables, and general disarray. Or rather 'Shade's organization skills'. One sigh, around a dozen complaints, and a couple curses later, all the blankets were packed up and her tablet was tucked securely under her arm.

A glance was all it took for her to zero in on a certain fluffy-haired person who was holding a cup of java. She needed that beautiful cup filled with amazing stay-awake powers. Tablet thrown onto the table, and blankets forgotten, the girl ran towards the cup of coffee, before attempting to grab it.

Drowsily turning her head, Shadow raised an eyebrow at the quiet sounds of chaos originating from the tech room. Trying to get her poor head to stop ringing from Leon's dramatic yelling she pushed her chair back and stood. The lanky woman stretched to her full height, giving a slight moan of pleasure as stiff joints and muscles stretched. Moving almost silently, just the sound of her bare feet sliding across the floor smoothly, she got a piece of bread and proceeded to pop it into the toaster.

Taking another sip of her coffee, she leaned carefully against the table, waiting for her toast to be ready. Staying up way too late researching one thing or the other, she had only slept a few hours, and although her body pulled at her to get more sleep, she knew it'd be best to get up now, or risk sleeping late into the day. She had already flipped her day and night cycles once, and she though it'd be best to avoid torturing her fellow glitch members with an overly energetic Shadow at three am. Once her toast finally sprung up after what seemed like a millennium, she wearily padded over to the door of the tech room, coffee in hand and toast in mouth.

_______It was a dozen cups of regular that kept her working for those four consecutive days at the computers. It was indeed an agonizing experience for such a dull project, but it was necessary, and thankfully, over. Tonight would finally be her one day of the week she could sleep. Adela hoped that she wouldn’t deny herself sleep any longer.
_______Still somewhat sluggish from her insomnia, Adela lifted her head from the cross of her arms and stared groggily at one of the screens before her. Her attention immediately snapped back into action as she heard sudden noise coming from the kitchen. Adela heaved herself from her chair to see what was going on in the kitchen. Just the sight of that familiar face had brought out two conflicting responses. The joy of seeing one of her closest comrades, and the annoyance of the presence of that hair gel-hoarding goofball. Adela rolled her eyes and pushed her chair back into the desk. The girl afterwards made her way into the kitchen and toward the closet. Digging through the compiled space, Adela found the item that she needed. She continued back to her personal seat in the tech room and sat the large trash bag on the floor beneath the desk. The cans of caffeine that had been keeping her mentally alive for the past week littered her desk, giving her almost no room to keep her files and pointless junk on the desk. She swept the trash into the bag and hauled it away to where her other bags of cans were.
_______Adela strolled back to the kitchen and poured herself her thirteenth cup of coffee that week. Leaning against the counter and leisurely sipping at her fresh coffee, she felt a gust of wind suddenly whip by her and looked to see Esme launching herself at Moonsong. Adele stared surprised for a moment, then wearily chuckled to herself. Esme’s drive for coffee was amusing at times. Especially when accidents like this happened. Adela put the cup to her lips to take another sip, and kept her eyes on Esme and Moonsong. With all the enjoyment she gained from seeing her work go into play, the entertainment provided within her very group was even more pleasurable. She peered at the both of them, waiting to witness the events about to take place.

Moonsong breathed in the familiar cold air of the tech room. This was probably the only room he truly felt welcome, with all sorts of monitors and art-of-state technology lining the walls. They, the Glitch, had only managed to actually put effort in this room; it looked as if this place was from another dimension, another world. The rest of the interior of the small apartment was rather drab and dull looking, with only basic needs lying around. They had focused solely on the tech room, expanding most of it so that the rest of the rooms were much smaller in contrast.

The gamer entered the room, his eyes dropping on a sleeping Esme. She must’ve had worked on another fanfiction again to be still here in the room. The group often stayed here overnight when they were up to something, and it wasn’t unusual to find one snoring away. His work area took over the left corner, his monitors taking up the side of that area. There were several speakers lining his desk as well as a main computer he had used. Other monitors surrounding it ran scan downs, profile runs, and other systems that he looked over at during his games. There was also a hologram device fixated in the corner of the desk, which usually displayed opponent statistics, etc. He pulled his headphones over his ear, adjusting the speaker on it so it was placed right. Moonsong was just about to sit down and start up when he heard a quick thump of feet echoing off the ground.

Turning around was a big mistake. He was met with a bear hug – no, not for him, for his cup of coffee! Pulling it away at the last second as Esme was about to clasp her hands around it, Moonsong barely kept the caffeinated drink from spilling over his electronics. He twisted his body sideways so that he could dodge the rest of the girl. “There’s coffee in the kitchen if you want. Working on fan-fictions again?”

Shadow entered the room shortly after and Moonsong did a quick nod greeting towards her. He sat down on his chair, spinning around towards his desk, and clicked a single button. Suddenly, all the screens buzzed to life. It was time to become king again. It was true - he was almost god at games. There was surely not one who could beat him. Only rumors followed all over the internet of such an invincible player only known by the name of "Glitch." Anything that dared stand in his path was crushed, only leaving loss to other players. Moonsong was there only source of income as per the Glitch as of now, through tournament games that he participated.

He was careful enough to put his cup of coffee as far as possible on his desk away from the coffee crazed girl, spinning around. It was only then did he absorb his surroundings and notice the rest of the group was here. Just about perfect timing. “Ahem, today will be R.O.’s tournament. Grand prize is $10,000, which I shall be taking. That should be enough to last us for a month or two, save for if we don’t buy another set of electronics, " he announced with a wink. There was a litter of new unused electronics in the corner of the room, which were sitting useless. They seemed to have a habit of spending their feeble unstable income on rather electronics than the basic necessities they needed, such as food, water, etc. But then again, these were the very screens that defined them. They had shaped their lives online, lived it, survived on it, depended on it. Without it, the "Glitch" might have not even existed. It was as if thin strings of fate had connected them and brought them together.

Moonsong looked at the clock in the corner of his screen. Two more hours until nine, two more hours, until, the game begins.

Her hands grasped nothing but air, where there was supposed to be coffee. Darn it. Well, she could just walk over to the kitchen to get a cup. Oh well.

To say she was angry wouldn't be completely correct, but to say she wasn't would also be incorrect. "There is not a single chance of us purchasing another monitor, or tablet. Not even a mouse. I've been out of olive oil and eggs for six days. Six. How is the only good chef in the house supposed to cook without eggs or oil?!" Those ten thousand dollars were going to be used for food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. Not electronics. Okay, maybe she did want that new touchscreen laptop that was all the rage this month. And that ice-thin tablet. Annddd maybe the gleaming silver keyboard she had her eyes on for some time. Or that beautifu- No no, Esme you're getting off-track. The raven-haired girl turned around and stomped off to the kitchen, or rather kitchenette.

It was breakfast time, and she was the one who was supposed to make it. Since they had no eggs, or oil and had run out of waffles the day before, she would settle for making small sandwiches and egg- wait they had no eggs so steamed vegetables. Oh, and last night's leftover pizza. The kitchen was her workspace, and Esme usually made the best meals. A quick twirl, and she'd gather up everything needed before somehow managing to make something good-tasting [unlike a certain database who could burn almost everything], not yell out about something not being perfect [leon pretty much always did that], and complete everything within a set time.

Four pieces of bread went into the dual toaster, ingredients were chosen and prepared, and pizza was reheated. Esme grabbed five plates, set them on the table and set about making the sandwiches. First, a piece of toast, then some mayonnaise was slathered on, before a crisp green leaf landed on top of a slice of brown tomato [yours truly had bought them]. Two slices of ham, and it was ready to go! Each sandwich was cut in half diagonally, and placed on a plate. Esme deftly cut the pizza in 5 even slices, and were dropped beside the sandwiches. A slight bubbling sound told her that the broccoli and carrots could be put into the pot, and that there would probably be enough time to heat up some frozen sweet potato fries that went on sale last week.

Around 10 minutes later, there was a yell that could be heard on a daily basis. "Breakfast is ready!!" fell upon the ears of anyone who was listening. Five white plates, with a fork beside each, a pile of fries in a plate at the centre of the of the table were visible to the girl in a white apron, who was feeling quite smug under the usual scowl she had in place. Esme had found twenty bucks left under the bag of apples.

Nodding back at Moonsong, the sleepy database shoveled toast into her mouth. Succeeding in devouring the poor bread by the time she reached her computer, she turned it on in a routinely manner. Holding an impressive amount of power and storage, her computer was built for holding and finding information. Three monitors sat side by side, allowing her to look at several things at once. Seeing the familiar 'Windows' logo on the center screen, she proceeded to chug down her coffee in a few rapid gulps. At the familiar call resounding from the kitchen, she made sure that her computer was indeed turning on and returned to the kitchen. "So, what's for breakfast today, 'chef'" she teased at the younger member.

Awaiting Esme's reply, she put her hands in the pockets of her jeans to see what she'd be able to find. A smirk lit up her face as fingertips graced the bumpy surface of her DS. Tiny nicks and scratches lined the surface of the device, a hand-held console years out of date. Although she didn't play very much, she treasured the old thing, since it a birthday present from her father when she was eleven. Pulling it out, she checked which games were inserted and smiled deviously. The familiar logo of Pokemon greeted her as she was met by both 'Soul Silver' and 'Ruby'. Pushing the on switch she quickly turned on the latter game and leaned against the wall. Her curious gaze swept the room, thinking 'not bad!' at the neat placement of plates and utilities.

All the monitors on his desk and around him flashed to life, blinking with the Circuit start-up screen. Only the clicks of the keyboard echoed in the room as a he typed out a long row of his encrypted password. The monitors in unison redirected to another blank gray screen, asking for another password. Moonsong was very wary and cautious on security for his computer. It was dangerous enough to be known as a member of the “Glitch.” As an almost invincible god at games, many would accuse him of perhaps a way of cheating and, or hacking, but they’d only put the blame on him in acts of jealousy. It was usual for hacking attempts on his profiles but it was a useless struggle; a game with god is a thought futile and foolish to humans.

His dazzling blue eyes flashed as the screen flickered to home page. The monitors had broken unison as another wave of keyboards brought them to different screens. One was doing scan-down security of viruses, another two main monitors stacked on top of each other bringing him to the countdown screen of the tournament, and the one to his left running profile checks on each player that had registered in the tournament. The hologram whizzed to life, showing a 3D figure of the player’s avatar, while the monitor connected to it displayed information. His eyes dashed around to each screen, checking they were all in place and working.

Phew. The gamer leaned back on his chair and looked at the clock again. 7:30 A.M. That would give me plenty of time to get ready before the game. All the softwares and programs seemed to be working fine but I’ll make sure Leon had a double check on it. He also looked into the battery of his mouse to make sure it was working the entire duration of the upcoming game.

He motioned his hands towards a white haired boy by the side. “Yo, Leon, can you double check and inspect that all the elements in the coding are fixed and good to go for the game? So that nothing’s been corrupted or anything. I’ve leveled security in my monitors to two times higher than normal so it shouldn’t be anything wrong.”He right clicked and the coding for the programs came up.

There was a far cry of “Breakfast is ready!” from the kitchen as Esme called all them to attend their morning meal. “Better hurry before she storms in here,” Moonsong added quickly with a wink.

He dashed off to morning breakfast, leaving Leon with his whirling blinking monitors.
