[Startedraining]

"I want it to live and be safe and happy, but I worry over what it means and how people will react to finding out I'm in a secret guild. Not that it'll be obvious because I have a crow, but someone may notice it. I'm a good person, I'd hate for someone to hate me based off of this. What we did was an accident. Releasing oblivion and almost dying was not ever part of my destiny."

Edgar stopped there. He frowned at the little egg.

[Sphye]

Mara nodded as she listened.
"...So, you're worried about what it represents?" she guessed tentatively. "it's not the crow itself so much as what comes with the crow?"

[Startedraining]

"I've always had a place in my heart for things that are living, but having to constantly be reminded of a mistake I made because I was stupid and gullible is not what I want from this little crow. I want to be part of the Watch Crows, don't get me wrong, but I also want to forget it all.
"If we battle the Ancient Oblivion, what will happen after? Are we going to be heroes? Are we going to be shunned?"

Edgar turned the egg over in his hands. A wave of feelings washing over him. What was to become of this egg?

[Sphye]

Mara frowned. "Well, you're not the only one who made that mistake," she said in an attempt at reassurance. "I did, too, and by the sound of it, so did others. He tricked us. You thought you were fixing it."
Even just the memory brought with it the scent of ash, almost thick enough to taste. Such a chalky, dark scent it was, washing out everything else.

[Startedraining]

"Whatever the outcome, I want to be remembered for something I did that was good, and I don't want to always have to tip toe around and make things better between me and everyone else in the world."

Edgar shook his head, and set down the egg. He picked up his sandwich to finish it, though he was not particularly hungry.

[Sphye]

Mara cast her eyes to the ground, unable to find words of comfort.
"...Do you want to get going?" she asked after a moment, carefully returning her egg to a relatively secure place in her pack. Canvas and Daria would probably return from were they were hiding once she got up, she figured.

[Startedraining]

"I don't know if there is another place to stop along the way, and I'd prefer to stay put for the night." Edgar tried to argue, but got up and packed his things away anyway.

He picked up Arian, snuffling the small drake's belly and tickling him under the chin. Small squeals could be heard from him as he wiggled around. Edgar once again wished that he had brought a drake to fly with him.

[Sphye]

"You'd rather stay here than try to make it to a town?" she asked, her tone somewhere between incredulous and disappointed. She glanced around for her runes as she stood, spotting the orange color of the jellyfish rune in the foliage, presumably with Canvas very near.
"Canvas, Daria!" she called, as if it would make them any less likely to run away if she made an attempt to catch either.

[Startedraining]

"I'd rather be alone for now. We'll make it to a town by nightfall tomorrow." Edgar frowned, not in a good mood at the moment.

[Sphye]

Mara sighed, casting her eyes away. Unsure as to whether he intended to stay, or keep moving despite his misgivings, she merely stood her ground.
"...What do you want to do, then?" she asked after a pause.
