    Alexander -
    | Divergent | W/ No one | At: Initiation/the Ceremony |

Alexander waited for his turn, impatient as the time stretched out, infinitely long in his eyes. Because his last name started with 'M', he often found himself near the end of... Well, everything, and the ceremony was no exception. He had already gotten some angry glares, his obvious shifting and hulking form (he was quite tall and bulky for his age) causing a disturbance, but he couldn't really find it in himself to care. Much. The squirming stopped, however.

When he finally made his way way to the raised platform, Alexander kept his eyes straight forward, unwilling to look into the eyes of his abnegation friends, shining with hope and expectation. He knew that most if not all of them expected him to be in abnegation. They all fit the bill, and were as kind and demure as one could be, but he chafed under that sort of living environment. He was plenty kind and loyal, and wasn't extremely fond of looking at himself -although he did tend to try and catch a glimpse here and there after exercising- but he always itched to do something more; to be active, to run, to jump, to push himself. To really see what he was capable of, without the watchful and judge mental eye of superiors watching him, boring him. That sort of feeling he could only find in the Dauntless, which was where he was going. Slicing open his palm with almost reckless abandon, he clenched his fist and let the blood run down his palm and onto the hot stones, before turning and staring defiantly at everyone present, jaw clenched in pain and resolution.

He was going to be Dauntless, and he knew it was the right choice, the only choice, no matter what others thought.

That though was practically cemented when he went through the Divergent's style of initiation. He loved climbing the rusting steel beams to get to the train, muscles tensing and relaxing as his new lack leather jacket stretched and creaked under the movement; he loved the thrill of an open drop below him as he leapt from the train onto a roof, spraying gravel and small stones everywhere, grin as wide as can be despite dust in his hair, sweat on his back, and the distinct taste of metal and stone on his tongue. He was one of the first to jump. Not the first, mind you; a Dauntless-born had done that. But he took the jump with no hesitation, his scream one of pure joy and release as adrenaline pumped through his system, a sort of energy he hadn't felt in a long, long time. As he got off from his high and filed into line along with the new Dauntless, he grinned to himself and looked around. Yes; this, this is what he had been looking for. This was perfect.

This was it. And nothing was going to be able to change it... Right?

    Trinity -
    | (Former)Erudite | W/ No one | At: Initiation/The Ceremony |

    Trinity was feeling quite conflicted.

She was stressed and therefore, really wanted to pace, to move, to jitter her leg, anything; but all that she was left with was biting nails that really had nothing left to bite. She hated drawing too much untoward attention, but she was sure that she was breaking out in a cold sweat, fainting; something or the other. All she knew was that it wasn't good, and she could only send the gods -ha! Gods; there weren't gods- a prayer, for giving her a last name starting with 'A'; that way she didn't have to deal with the judging and critical eyes of her Erudite 'friends' when she chose Dauntless as her faction.

If other people knew about her final faction choice, they would have laughed and brushed it off as a joke. Not only was Trinity quite thin, she also had pale skin that seemed slightly sickly, and was generally not really in her "physical prime", whatever that was. She also had a tendency to be very flighty and tense, and was a bit too quiet and demure to really hold up the Dauntless stereotype of rash boldness. She was counted as an intellectual, and was someone with a keen eye for detail and a very good, innate ability to connect the dots. They wouldn't be ale to fathom why this classic, cookie-cutter Erudite would ever join such a... "Rough" faction. To be honest, she wasn't even quite tha sure herself. But despite her ability with problems and solutions, she hated its. Alright, she didn't hate it; she just disliked it. It was boring, and dull, and she wanted something knew. Something... Different. Something that would drive her to become a better person instead of just waste her time.

And thus, she found herself cutting her palm -wincing at the shallow cut despite barely shedding blood- and watching as a couple lone drops hissed quietly onto hot stones. She refused to look up at the people in Erudite, and only smiled softly at congratulations given to her when a few people in Dauntless clapped her on the black and handed her a fetching black leather beater. She wasn't sure if her decision was right or not, but she knew she had to be out from her former faction, or she'd get sick from the sight of blue.

She kind of regretted her decision a few moments later when she felt her arms screaming in protest as she tried to climb the rails. Keyword: Tried. She kept on slipping, her uncoordinated and unpracticed movements sapping her energy as she fumbled her way up. It was only when a dark-haired boy took pity on her and hauled her up did she finally relax, her face flushed from embarrassment and exertion as she thanked the fellow profusely. And then came the jumping from the train. That was alright, she supposed; the length was easily reachable despite how it looked, and the drop would only kill her if she landed on her back, chest, or head. She nearly laughed to herself; here she was, taking solace in the fact that she probably wouldn't die if she plummeted down the side of a building. Scrambling to her feet and ignoring the small bits of stone digging painfully into her knees and hands, she could only wait to jump down a seemingly bottomless hole. She knew there had to be something at the end to slow their fall; it was entirely useless to kill new recruits. She found herself dropping down somewhere in the middle of the line, too quiet to go first but not really chickening out. She was completely silent on the way down, and scrutinized everything once she got into line. She might not be an erudite anymore, but she would still hold a bit of that analyzing personality at heart.

      Hannah Davis
      divergent • tagged: nobody

Hannah's heart raced. She felt sick, and the thick material of her clothes combined with the heat of the room wasn't helping. Luckily for her, her name was going to be one of the last called. She was incredibly glad they went in reverse alphabetical order. The nervous energy flowing around her- both hers and the rest of the sixteen year olds here -made the choices feel extremely short. So far only one Abnegation had transferred to Dauntless. She'd be the second one. Finally her name was called, though she barely heard it through what sounded like her heartbeat pulsing in her ears. Never in her life had she been this nervous. She felt selfish for worrying about herself. Abnegation valued selflessness, but then again, she wasn't Abnegation. She belonged in Dauntless. Or at least she thought she did.

A deep breath was taken as she held the knife in her hand. She dragged it against the palm of the opposite hand, wincing slightly and watching as the blood welled up. Hannah was terrified that she'd be seen as a traitor. In this case, she really was. She was leaving her faction, her family, everything she had learned to hold dear. Her parents would visit her, right? She wasn't sure, but as her blood sizzled on the stones beneath her, it didn't really matter much anymore. The Dauntless initiates cheered and clapped, but she couldn't help glancing at where she remembered her parents being seated. They looked disappointed. Were they mad at her for not choosing to stay with them? She was their only child. There had to be some sort of sadness in them.

The beginning of her Dauntless initiation was difficult to say the least. Hannah had trouble pulling herself up into the train. Grabbing hold and jumping up was fairly simple. The hard part was heaving her body into the locomotive. A boy from Erudite offered a hand to her, but she refused to let him help her. She was determined to do this herself. If she fell off then she'd live factionless. Either that or she'd be dead. Something told her she'd be able to do it though, and as soon as she was safe, she let out a loud sigh of relief. Her moment of celebration was short. Soon they were near the Dauntless complex. She'd have to jump out of the train here.

Her feet hit the solid ground of the roof just fine, but the force of it threw her forward. She felt her cheek hit the ground. That'd leave a mark, judging by how it stung. She raised a hand to the scrape once she stood up. It was bleeding, but not much. A few transfers were chuckling at her, but she gave them a dirty look and tried to ignore them. It didn't stop them from making fun of her though. Before she knew it, people were jumping off of the side of the building into a large hole in the ground. What was down there? Would there be something to catch them? Or were they going to be plummeting into water? She was pushed towards the edge of the building, and in that moment she swore the drop looked bigger than it had before. She gulped and took one last step before jumping off the building. Her scream was blown away in the wind. The fall was over sooner than she'd thought it'd be. Her body hit a net, and while it stung, she soon rolled herself out of it and was helped to the ground.

This was her new life. She took a single long, uneven breath and pulled her hair out of it's bun. Once she had joined the other Dauntless initiates, both transfers and Dauntless born, she let out an uneasy laugh and tried to keep to herself.

      Caden Evans
      former candor • tagged: nobody

Caden had been honest with his parents about his choice to leave Candor. They'd been disappointed, but said that they supported him no matter what he chose. Surprisingly, the sixteen year old wasn't nervous. He had it all planned out in his head. He'd stride up to the bowls with complete confidence and slice his hand directly over the bowl to signify he was choosing Dauntless. Then he'd head over to the group and accept their warm welcome and things would go smoothly from there. Unfortunately for him, the exact opposite happened. Once his name was called, he made an attempt to walk up with confidence, but faltered and ended up tripping on the first step up to the stage.

When he went to cut his hand open over the bowl, he didn't press hard enough. Apparently his knife wasn't sharpened enough either, so he had to drag it across his palm a second time to draw blood. Amused laughter erupted from everyone except Abnegation. It made his face turn as red as a tomato, but he continued on, letting the blood collect in his hand. He let it drip onto the stones and grinned in satisfaction at the noise it made. He still wasn't officially a member of Dauntless though. Not until initiation ended, which wouldn't be for a few weeks. Brushing off the previous mistakes he'd made, he joined the rest of the Dauntless initiates and took a seat while the rest of the choices were made.

The time to leave arrived sooner than he'd thought it would. He ran alongside his new faction, doing his best to keep up the pace and stay close behind. Most of them were faster than him, but at the same time he knew he'd build up his endurance if he made it past this part. The light of the train was coming closer by the second. He was aware that he'd have to jump onto the train, but how would he do that? It was a good thing that most of his strength was geared towards his upper body. By the time he was being pushed forward with the rest of the group, he had mentally prepared himself for this, and when it was his turn, he managed to (quite clumsily) pull himself up. He laughed and brushed some loose strands of hair out of his face before taking a seat against one of the walls.

The next challenge was a little tougher, but he was able to complete it with only a few complications. On the way out of the train, his ankle caught on the side of the building and he fell forward. His immediate reaction was to put his hands out to catch himself, but that just ended with him getting scratched palms. Well, the one with the cut from the knife just got dirt in it, but the other one stung from the gravel. He brushed himself off once standing and watched curiously as people leaped off of the side of the building and into what looked like nothingness. He stood behind a Dauntless born initiate and watched as they jumped. Now it was his turn. He stepped up onto the ledge and jumped without thought. He didn't close his eyes or even scream. All he did was let himself fall. The breath he'd been holding was knocked out of him once he hit the net. He sat there wide-eyed for a moment before struggling to get out.

He didn't know about these other people, but he was ready to become a full member of Dauntless. There was no way it was as easy as this though. There had to be some catch he hadn't been told about yet, and he'd just have to wait for it to be announced.

    Thor Magnhild -
    | Welcomer |

"Hhheeellooo, new initiates!" A voice suddenly erupted, a drawling, lazy sort of tone that sounded like a person casually cracking a whip. The voice belonged to a tall, wiry man in his mid-twenties, with flaxen blonde hair that reached his shoulders and a rugged, impish smile that spoke of nothing but trouble. He had intricate arm sleeve tattoos, put on full display through his black leather vest and dark pants. Still grinning roguishly, the man gazed at the group of newbies, delighting in the perplexed looks on their faces as they all turned in unison to gaze at him. Clapping his hands together, Thor threw out his arms in what seemed to be an expansive welcoming gesture. "Well?" He said, raising an eyebrow. "Why aren't ya lot celebratin'?" He sighed when the initiates just stared at him. Gaping little fish, they were. Claire always said he had to be a bit clearer... Clearing his throat, he hawked and spat.

"What I'm sayin', is... Welcome to Dauntless!!!" He roared, laughing when the newbies began to murmur before finally laughing and cheering themselves.

Letting them congratulate themselves for a few more moments, Thor cleared his throat again, motioning to a few more Dauntless members. "A'right, a'right, newbies; settle down, settle down. We gonna be splittin' ya into groups now. Dauntless born; go on an' follow Tae, o'er there." He quickly swiveled on his feet and pointed to a fetching Asian woman with a rough pixie cut and a tattoo on her cheek. The majority of the group trickled away, leaving only... Ugh. Thor sighed again. Slim pickings, always; and so many were stiffs. Walking forward, Thor gave all of them a welcoming smile that seemed slightly predatory and lazy at the same time. "The name's Thor. Transfer newbies, yer stuck wi' me. Nice ta meet'cha, yeah?" He said, walking throughout the group. He walked around the remaining four he hadn't looked at and inspected them. He barely glanced at Caden, only giving him a sideways glance. He curled his lip slightly at Trinity, a silent, mocking challenge in his eyes. Turning suddenly, he then reared down on the two abnegation members. "Ya know, we got some Candor's an' Erudite's runnin' about this place, but I gotta say, this is the first time stiffs make up so much o' the transferrin' newbies." First walking to Alexander, Thor gave the boy an appraising glare. "Well, at least you clean up well, stiff." He said, clapping him on the back in an almost familial way. Moving on to Hannah, he merely chuckled. "An' you, lil girl... You got some work to do, don'tcha?" He questioned, giving her the same mocking glance that he had given the erudite girl. Not bothering to learn their names, Thor turned again and made his way down the hall. "C'mon, new brats! I'm here t'show you around. Don't follow if you can't keep up!" He called, already halfway to the door.

    - - - - -

Leading them down a set of metal stairs as a bright red light shined above and turned everything into an ominous crimson, Thor kept up a running commentary. "Th' next thing yet gonna be lookin' at is called th'pit. Almost all stairs, like this one" -He gave the rail next to him a slap, the metal shaking ominously- "Lead down to it." He walked towards a large opening in the wall, stopping on the ledge as it looked down into an expansive, open sinkhole-esque place, with surprisingly smooth and clean walls. A brawl was currently going on at the bottom, and a huge crowd surrounded the fighters. "Th'pit's also the center o' life, here at Dauntless. The funniest part is pointin' out which bloodstain on the ground is yours." He said, wiggling his eyebrows; it was unclear whether or not he was joking.

He then led them down another set of stairs until he got to a shabby, large room, with a low ceiling and dingy grey walls, all filled with ratty hospital beds with open toilets in the back. "This is where y'all will be stay in' for the next... Eh, two an' a half months, or so. And by all of ya, I mean all of ya. Boys an' girls. I'll hear no grumblin'." He dismissed the few murmurs of complaint; he had clearly heard it all before. "Now get changed, ya won't be needin' those clothes no more; burn 'em in the incinerator on th'way out. And then go to the mess hall and grab some grub; we'll talk more after." Thor then turned and gave a dismissive wave, vanishing from the dingy room a few seconds later.

    Alexander Makai -
    | Divergent | W/ Hannah | At: The Mess Hall |

Still breathing heavily from the adrenaline high that he had gotten from the initiation tests, Alexander looked around for someone to talk to. Whenever he was excited or happy, he got the tendency to want to just... Blabber his life away, and ramble to the nearest person that would listen. Another reason why he didn't really belong in Abnegation, but he wasn't in Abnegation anymore, so he didn't need to care if his actions weren't "selfless enough". It was a really uplifting thought, and it made him stand a little taller, like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

When the higher-ups began to talk, Alexander could only gaze in interest at the tattoos that they all had. Really, he barely paid attention to any of the speech; he didn't even know if there was a speech. He became enraptured in the designs swirling around Thor's arm; he saw a massive tree... A wolf... Lightning and snow and fire and stars, all at once. He was pretty sure his eyes had glazed over a that point, utterly mesmerized by swirling ink. He probably looked dumb or like he was delirious, and he might have been drooling. Just a little.Only snapping out of his reverie when he realized that people were shuffling about, he quickly shifted so he was in the transfer group, wearing the drab grey of his former faction like a badge. He continued gazing around, just taking it all in, when he realized that Thor, in his weird scrutiny, had finally made it to him. "Uh... Thanks?" He replied, blinking a few times in confusion. "I exercise sometimes?"

His last sentence fell on nothing but deaf ears, however, when Thor turned and began addressing another. His stomach twisted when he saw him talk to someone from his former faction in that tone, and a frown dimpled his forehead. He resolved to talk to her and comfort the girl -no matter if she needed comfort or not- as soon as they were walking and Thor was busy chattering about something or another. Even if the man's tattoos and surprisingly flowy hair was cool, his attitude definitely put Alexander off. He resolved to never let the harshness of the faction touch him; he would continue helping others, no matter what. He nodded to himself, as if he was agreeing to this vow, earning a few strange glances as others tried to figure out just what, exactly, was making him frown and smile at the same time.

True to his word, Alexander sidled up to Hannah when Thor began the "tour", as sneakily as his lumbering, non-sneaky self could. "Hiya!" He positively chirped, eyes bright and inviting. "Hannah, right? I saw you choose Dauntless. Us Abnegations stick together though, right?" He said, chuckling and giving her a slap on the shoulder, although his slaps were often heavier than he usually intended. "Anyways! I'm sorry that the guy up front talked to you in that way; you aren't feeling down, are you?" He sort of... Melted, drooping until he was more baby bear like, looking at Hannah with a slightly remorseful, compassionate expression, before pulling her into a tight, smothering hug. "It's alright though! I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun here, eh?" In a moment, he was back to being insufferably perky, a spring in his step as he followed the group.

    - - - - -

Only when he reached the living quarters -could it even be called that? It couldn't possibly be livable for very long- did his droopy frown make a return, although only for a split second before he shrugged and positively stripped right then and there, after Thor left. Quickly pulling up comfortable water-proof pants and a maroon tank top, he had just shrugged on a nice leather jacket when he heard a giggle and saw a small group of girls quickly turn away. He merely gave them a wave and a smile, oblivious to their actual "motives" as he waited patiently at the door; he wanted to find someone to actually walk to the mess hall with, so they could sit down together. Maybe Hannah? If she wasn't scared away by his actions earlier. He certainly was over-zealous at times.

    Trinity Archimedes -
    | (Former)Erudite | W/ No one | At: The Mess Hall |

Trinity sort of... Hovered, as she fidgeted on the outer fringes of the group. She felt quite awkward in her dark blue clothes, almost reminiscent of a suit, especially when most of the new initiates were from Dauntless. She worried that she would be labeled as snobbish and smug right off the bat; if there was anything Trinity hated, it was critical judgement like that, especially when you were judging people who were practically strangers. And while she listened intently to Thor's little "speech" -although his drawling way of speaking was a bit hard to understand for Trinity who grew up around nothing but clipped, articulated tones- she prickled at his judging glances and the way his lips would curl up in a mocking grin as he stared at anyone not up to his own personal standards. When that stare landed on her, she clenched her hands in annoyance but still looked to the ground, biting her bottom lip. "Your weight and stature doesn't determine your muscle mass, you..." She mumbled under her breath, not quite sure how to continue the insult as she had never been good with insults in the first place. Thankfully, Thor had heard none of her sentence as he was too busy judging the next person. She frowned again, looking away.

She slowly shuffled along with the group, her head tipped towards the ground and arms folded neatly behind her back. There were a few Erudites, of course, but what could she say? She didn't know them well. The next thing you knew she'd be rambling about Quantum Theories. Trinity suppressed a chuckle; it was a running joke in Erudite that if you were completely at a loss of words you would start spouting Quantum Theories. It was funny because it was true; it was a well-known subject but also one that was very open to discussion. However, those discussions often ended in animosity because people simply couldn't agree. Hence the joke. She sighed to herself. How different it was to be in Dauntless! She was pretty sure that no one in Dauntless ever thought about stuff like that. Her eyes drifted back towards the few Erudites, taking amongst themselves. "But I'm saying that Schrödinger's cat couldn't possibly have been all that miraculous simply because you could figure out the status of the animal through simple knowledge and facts, as well as tests that wouldn't disturb the box environment!" Trinity heard one of them hiss, voice getting slightly louder and more vehement. Rolling her eyes, she sighed yet again. Of course; those three weren't going to be friends by the end of this tour.

The entire tour went without a hitch, for the most part. There was a very loud abnegation man somewhere behind her, but that as it. She had also managed to change pretty efficiently, planning out how to change by showing the least amount of skin possible. It left her a bit breathless and red in the face, but at least it had saved her from most embarrassment, although the pants she was given were a bit uncomfortably tight. She liked the black tank top though, and she put on her beater, although she didn't zip it; it was hot enough as it was. She heard a few wolf whistles throughout then room and flushed even though they weren't meant for her; she just felt embarrassed enough for the people who were subject to the wolf whistles that she blushed as well.

She headed to the Mess Hall alone, and was nearly overwhelmed by the utter cacophony and general... Messiness of the place. It had never been like this in Erudite... But she wasn't in Erudite anymore, was she? Realizing she was kind of standing in the doorway, she quickly headed off to find a seat. She kept her head down and ignoring the curious glances from others, some of them malignant. Procuring a spot near the wall that was left mercifully empty -the table itself had fewer occupants than other tables, most likely because it was close to the trash cans- Trinity finally let herself relax, just a bit. Spooning some food onto her plate, she started to cut it up like she usually did in Erudite, holding her utensils in the "proper" way, only slowed slightly when she felt judging glares aimed at her, and a few chuckles that she heard even above the dinn. Ignoring them to the best of her ability, she focused on her meal.it wasn't the best, as it was a bit too salty and a bit too rushed in preparation, but that was probably to be expected from Dauntless fare. For the most part, she ignored the people around her and seemed to be trying to make herself as small of a target -er, person, as possible.

To say the least, Hannah was surprised by the voice. It was loud and practically surrounded her. She jumped at the sound of it, being snapped out of a daze she'd set herself in. Making herself more alert, she clapped along with the rest of the initiates, and only stopped when they were told to settle down. The man directed them to follow him, but yet again they paused to celebrate. This time she hesitantly called out with the rest of them. She'd never used a tone so loud. In Abnegation, she rarely spoke at all unless asked a question. Her parents had told her it was polite. It didn't feel right to her though. She wanted to be loud and exciting, not quiet and reserved. She needed to take the time to break out of her shell.

As the group followed along, she made sure to listen carefully. There was no way she was going to miss anything. They were instructed to separate. Would they be separated for all of initiation? She wasn't going to ask. There was no way she'd be the first to ask a question, not when Thor had called her and the other Abnegation boy a stiff. She'd only heard the name a few times in her life, and none of the times had been pleasant experiences. The comment about her that came next irritated her. Sure, she did need some work, but being called out in front of these people wasn't just embarrassing, it was unnecessary as well. Her face reddened and she rolled her eyes. What could she do to show she wasn't as much of a stiff as he thought? Shuffling around nervously in her spot, she unbuttoned her jacket and practically threw it on the ground. Underneath she had a simple, thick strapped gray tank top, one that matched her long skirt perfectly. In her faction, this would be frowned upon. Here though, she'd be encouraged to leave her old faction behind as soon as possible.

'The pit', as it had been called, was large, rocky, and had an uneven floor. She had no idea how she'd be able to maneuver around it with all the sudden dips and the occasional rock jutting up. Hannah would figure it out later. For now she focused on following their 'tour guide' around. The sudden comfort from Alexander was odd to her. She only nodded at the question, but she knew they no longer belonged in Abnegation. The slap on her shoulder make her cringe slightly, but she covered it up as well as she possibly could.
"It's fine, don't worry about it. It didn't bother me." She lied, but her display from earlier proved otherwise. Before she could try to step away, she was enveloped in a hug that felt highly unnatural to her. In Abnegation, hugs were only given under serious circumstances. She'd seen her parents hug before. Showing affection wasn't common, and it was clear she wasn't used to it since she didn't return the hug. "Yep. Lots of fun." She replied, making an attempt at smiling at the other transfer.

She followed Thor to the room they'd all be staying in. It was, well, unimpressive. The walls were dirty. She wasn't sure if the random splotches on the wall were blood or dirt or both, and to be honest, she didn't want to know. Dauntless would be a big change for her. She groaned quietly to herself at the order to get changed. She didn't want to change in front of all of these people. There were guys here. Perhaps if she were sharing a room with only a group of girls she'd be more comfortable. Nonetheless, she picked a bed close to the wall and opened the top drawer of the dresser placed nearby. She picked the most concealing outfit she could, which happened to be loose fitting black pants and a long sleeved shirt that was a little too clingy for her liking. They were both a little too big for her, but what could she do? She'd have to pick up some better fitting clothes later. For now, she wasn't ready to fully adopt the Dauntless style. She'd have to ease herself into it.

Hannah had decided not to incinerate her old clothes despite what she'd been told. As soon as she was sure nobody was watching her, she folded them up and shoved them beneath the rest of the clothes where they were fully hidden. She slipped a pair of black sneakers on and headed towards the door so that she could go to the mess hall for food.

Caden was ecstatic to hear the greeting. His eyes scanned over the heads of the other initiates, finally finding the source of the voice. As the rest of the group cheered, he let out a loud whistle that blended in perfectly with the rest of the voices and clapping. It almost made him feel like a part of the group. He already had half of the attire part down, all he had to do was drop the white. Candor was known to wear black and white. They were plain and 'hid nothing' as he was told. It wasn't as bad as what Abnegation wore, but it was a distant second. The noise finally died down and they began following Thor. When he welcomed them to Dauntless, he stayed silent until the clapping and hollering began again. They were silenced, and the tour began.

They were split up into separate groups, the Dauntless born initiates going with a woman. They headed in the opposite direction. No kidding; they probably already knew where everything was. He listened to the little spiel before noticing him walking through the crowd. He hardly got glanced at, and he wasn't sure if that was good or bad. He shrugged it off before listening intently to the man's little 'chat' with the Abnegation transfers. He almost felt bad for the girl, but at the same time he didn't. She was small and thin. That wouldn't go well with Dauntless. Either she'd need to get stronger or get kicked out. Those were her only options, and if he were asked, he'd tell her that without hesitation. Hey, he'd just be being honest. Nobody could blame him for that.

Caden's group was led to a place called the pit. He'd never seen anything like it in Candor. Nearly everything there was made of glass. They had nothing to hide, and the complete and utter blackness of everything here was a huge change. Here he could keep secrets and not have to tell anyone anything like he did back home. Wait, no, not 'back home'. This was his home now. Candor would soon be a distant memory. He heard a loud conversation behind him, well, one half was loud. When he turned his head, he noticed the two Abnegation transfers were speaking. The girl was being positively squished in a hug, and looked slightly uncomfortable. He didn't know much about Abnegation, but hugging didn't seem like something they'd do out of nowhere.

Their temporary living quarters were horrific. The beds looked stiff, and the walls were a mix of colors, though he could tell they were originally gray. There was a stain on the wall near the bed he had chosen. He really hoped it was just from a leaky pipe, and not a stain from something else. He waited for Thor to leave before changing. He was comfortable changing in front of others, and it was evident by some of the looks he was getting that this wasn't common among the rest of them. He grabbed a pair of black jeans out of the dresser and slipped a plain t-shirt over his head before changing his shoes and heading out to the mess hall. Once arrived, he took a seat at a small table near the corner of the room. There weren't many people there, but from what he could tell, at least half of them were transfers. He got his food and got right to eating. He was practically starving, what with not having eaten this morning and doing all of this sudden physical activity that was rare for him to do in Candor.

    Alexander Makai -
    | Divergent | w/ Hannah | At: The Mess Hall |

Alexander waited by the door, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet as he stood akin to a sort of sentry, guarding the entrance. Almost everyone who passed by either gave him a very dubious and suspicious glare or just ducked their head, but he barely seemed to mind or notice. He simply clasped his hands behind his back, a small grin on his face. Almost as if he were a small child, awaiting instructions, although he definitely couldn't pass for one. He dutifully averted his eyes from everyone in the room while they were changing, and thus didn't notice Hannah had finished until she nearly walked past him.

"Hey! Hannah!" He chirped cheerfully, grinning at the girl. "Nice clothes! They new?where'd you get 'em?" He continued, before breaking down and chuckling at his own little joke. Looping an arm through hers he then proceeded to "bounce" -his jittery movements really couldn't be described as anything else- his way down the hall towards the mess hall. Or at least, he thought it was the mess hall; it was simply where everyone was going so he was going to just leave it at that. He didn't seem to notice his loud voice or close proximity as he kept up an endless stream of mindless chatter."So! Hannah. Why'd you wanna join Dauntless?" He asked, before gasping and... "Drooping" again. "Awh, crap! That was really insensitive of me, I'm sorry. Only tell me if you wanna! As for me" -He thumped on his chest for emphasis- "I just couldn't suffer through another listless day with Abnegation. They're kind and all and I really love being helpful and selfless and all that, but it's just not that exciting." He shrugged. To be honest, he didn't have any regrets, but the callous way that the Dauntless seemed t treat each other would take some getting used to. Perhaps they were just blunt.

His chatter slowed and stopped when they entered the mess hall, Alexander swiveling his head about and looking around with open-mouthed wonder at the party-like at the party-like atmosphere. He had never seen palace with so much excitement, with so much rowdiness; it was like he had finally found a place where he could belong. "This place is so loud and exciting, it's awesome!" He crowed, dragging Hannah into the middle of it as he ignored the mocking stares from some Dauntless members. "Now, only to find a table..." He muttered, half to himself as he stood in between a couple tables and sufficiently blocked a line if traffic. He slotted one that was relatively sparse, located on the far end near the waste buckets. "Hey! Over there; c'mon, Hannah!" He called, rushing over. Plopping himself onto a seat and patting the chair next to him as an invitation to sit, Alexander grinned widely at everyone present. "Hey there! How y'all doin'? I remember a few o' ya from the transfer group! You're the... Huh. Caleb? Cody? No... Caden? The Caden guy! From Candor. The guy who tripped on the stairs." Alexander patted him sympathetically on the arm. "Sorry about that, buddy; but I'm sure that no one laughed at you. I think." He frowned slightly, not quite able to remember the events at the choosing ceremony. He then busied himself with spooning food onto his plate, glancing at it with slight suspicion -he had never tried any of the foods presented and he was a bit unsure if it was going to be good- before shrugging and taking a big bite of some meat. He smiled and hummed in approval at the strange new taste.

"Anyways!" He suddenly exclaimed, clapping his hands together And probably scaring everyone there. "Why don't we introduce ourselves? We will be spending two months together, after all. I'm Alexander! Y'all can call me Alex. Or Alexander. I don't really mind. I transferred from Abnegation!" He pointed to himself, before going back to eating.

    Trinity Archimedes -
    | (Former)Erudite | W/ Everyone | At: The Mess Hall |

Trinity dutifully ate her meal, not exactly focusing on the taste; she usually didn't eat to taste things but did it for the nourishment. This meant she wasn't picky at all with foods, often surprising people by showing them "this delicate little flower" could stomach. Of course, she was never fed truly disgusting fare, but she was pretty sure a cow's large intestine was pretty irregular. It had actually been an experiment, to see if that breed was suitable. Technically, it was, but given the results she assumed few could handle the fatties, herself excluded.

She was broken out of her strange train of thought when she saw movement quite close to her. Shifting uncomfortably in her seat, soft blue eyes quickly flicked over to where a new person had just settled down. Although he definitely seemed more enraptured in his meal than anything, she still wasn't taking any chances, scooting just a bit closer to the wall. Trinity had always been a big Dan of personal space, thus her choice of a seat near the end. She sometimes even felt uncomfortable sharing a microscope, the sensation not unlike painless needles prickling along her skin. Se gave the unfamiliar teenager a few more quick glances, trying to stay as discrete as possible.

She was jolted yet again when a rather hulking sixteen year-old sat down across from the fellow she was scrutinizing a few seconds prior. She quickly matched his voice to the rather loud abnegation she had heard speaking earlier, and she didn't have to wait long for him to talk; and boy, did he talk. She wondered if his smaller female counterpart was ever able to get a word in, although from the interaction she had gleaned earlier the two of them were nothing but mere acquaintances. Se stared warily at the blabbering man, mindlessly taking bites of meat and what she thought was potato as she did so. She wasn't especially fond of such... Ah, exuberant personalities, and she felt tired just listening to the man.

She nearly choked on her food a second later when a lapse of sudden, blessed silence was disturbed by his booming voice again, followed by a loud clap. A strangled sort of whimper emerging from her throat, Trinity tried to quickly and discretely wash down the lump of food, successful for the most part except for the fact that she brought down her water tins it's a rather loud bang, her face slightly flushed as she valiantly tried to clear out the excess from her throat. Clearing her throat yet again, Trinity realized that this man had called for introductions. She eyed him again; before speaking, up. She would much rather be the first to speak and just get it over with than be pinned by that insufferably bright stare which honestly was too much for her at the moment. "Trinity Archimedes; former Erudite. It's a pleasure to be of your acquaintance." She said, voice still slightly raspy. She dipped her head once in a polite nod, before ducking her head and going back to rating, hoping that was that.

I refuse to submit to
the ridiculousness that is
Burying your gays,
For the community in media
should be a reflection of our lives
not lead to the stomach,
not death by disease
not a standard so often given
that it assumes a stereotyped name.

I refuse to bow to my apparent fate,
of death simply waiting for love,
of that love unrequited;
I will never quit,
and I weep for those
that felt like they had to.
I weep for those butchered
by a pixelated pen.

Hannah had almost made it out the door without Alex seeing her, but once he took notice of her she let out a quiet huff that was only loud enough for her to hear. He was trying to be friendly, and she had to remind herself of that. This was normal in this faction. He was adjusting better than she was so far. Would that lead to him doing better than her in training? She sure hoped not.
"I got them from the hottest new store, it's called 'the dresser near my bed.'" She said in attempt at returning the joke, It sounded more sarcastic than amused, though. It made her feel a little bad, but when he looped his arm through hers she ignored that problem and focused on what was happening now. This felt awkward to her, but she wasn't going to tell him to stop in fear of upsetting him.

"Well, uhh, I just got restless. Abnegation could get a little boring." She replied quietly, shrugging her shoulders. She listened to his reason for leaving and nodded in understanding. The girl was relieved when he stopped talking, but it didn't last long. Soon enough he was chattering again, and she nodded once again so he would know that she agreed with him. She wasn't one to talk much. She'd probably have to change that if she were to make any friends. When she was dragged towards a table she nearly tripped, but somehow managed to catch herself before falling to the ground. There were other people at the table with them. She recognized the girl from Erudite and the boy from Candor. How she'd done that, she didn't know, considering Alex was considerably bigger than her. They reached the table and she took a seat, automatically pushing some food onto her plate and taking a bite of what was closest to her so that she wouldn't have to talk for a bit.

Hannah listened in amusement as Alex attempted to figure out the Candor boy's name. Only when the other sixteen year old - who was supposedly named Caden - gave the sign that he'd finally gotten it right did she stop paying attention. She wasn't listening to the rest of the conversation, figuring she didn't need to be a part of it. She'd zoned out by the time Alexander asked them to introduce themselves, and the loud sound of her voice snapped her out of the haze she was in. 'Just get it over with, Hannah. They might leave you alone if you just introduce yourself,' she thought. And with that, she opened her mouth to speak.
"My name's Hannah and I transferred from Abnegation." She said quickly, hoping she wouldn't be asked any more questions. She was still last. The boy from her faction may have been talkative, but she wasn't. Not one bit.

Caden had been eating calmly when the two had (rather loudly) seated themselves at the table. Once again it was the boy being loud. The girl looked uncomfortable once again, and he wondered if she got like that every time she was with him. They didn't seem to have much interaction with each other before today, but he could be wrong. Things finally silenced. Until his name was guessed wrong for what felt like the hundredth time, he didn't speak. Finally the boy got it right, and he decided to give him a bit of sarcastic praise.
"Yep, good job, you guessed it." He said with a nod. His face reddened slightly at the mention of his terrible choosing ceremony experience. That was something he never wanted to be mentioned ever again.

"Yeah yeah, I'm sure nobody laughed at me. Not when everything went the opposite of what I planned." He muttered, not sure if he was heard or not. It didn't matter anyways. They'd begun introducing themselves by the time he had calmed down for the pink to flush out of his cheeks. He picked at his food carefully, pushing aside pieces of food he didn't like. When he had chosen his food he wasn't paying attention, so half of the options he had weren't good enough for him to eat. He waited for most of them to finish before starting his introduction. So far there was Alexander from Abnegation and Trinity from Erudite. Alright, good enough variety so far. He wondered if there were any transfers from Amity, but he doubted it. If there were, they hadn't made it off the train most likely. "I'm Caden, as you heard earlier. I'm from Candor. Honestly the only reason I left was because there's no privacy where I'm from. No secrets, y'know." He shrugged lightly before going back to his food. The girl from earlier's name was Hannah. He'd have to remember that, along with the other names.
