This is just a place for me to keep everything about my characters so I don't lose track of it.

Deryn Amell
Human Female
23
Dragoon Knight

Description
Deryn is a human woman with dark skin and wild, curly hair. Her hair is often tied back to keep it out of her face; when it is not, it brushes her shoulders. She is somewhat short and has freckles. She is fairly slim, though her strength and her love of hearty meals dictate that she is no slender, dainty thing. She has rough hands, larger than most women, calloused from bowstrings. Her eyes are a plain brown. Though few ever see it, she has a scar across her back, just above her left shoulder blade, from a wild griffon. Much more noticeable is the curved scar on the right side of her upper lip, which she got from her battle with the rune drake Dulinth. She always wears a green leather cuirass, trimmed with fur. Her outfit is completed with plain brown trousers, and brown leather bracers and boots. In colder weather, she wears a brown, furred cape with a hood. The cape is short enough that she can draw her bow and move uninhibited. Her bow, named Felandris, is of nordic make. She purchased it before going into her drake trial. She is rarely without her bow and a quiver stuffed with arrows- the arrows she carries are mismatched, all different lengths and colors. These arrows, as well as the countless knives she carries tucked into her belts and hidden away in her boots, are mostly scavenged from corpses.

Personality
Fiery and roguish, Deryn is always steadfast to her own opinions. She often comes across as brash and loud, and unwilling to cooperate with others. Though she is not shy, and will talk to any who so much as look at her, she prefers to be alone. In complete contrast to the way she interacts with others, Deryn harbors a sort of awe-filled admiration of beautiful things. Whether an intricately-carved necklace or a starry sky, all things made by nature and men fascinate her. She acts tougher than she is in nearly every situation. She is talented with a bow, and can heal with magic and herbs. However, her preference for light armor tends to leave her vulnerable on the battlefield. Her tendency to conceal her true feelings often leads to conflict with her companions. Due to a traumatic encounter in her past, she has an overwhelming fear of griffins, and a mistrust of avians.

History
Deryn was raised in the wilds, with none but her mother and brother for company. Both she and her brother were taught the skills of archery and healing by their mother. At age 19 she walked alone into Alabaster city, alone. What became of the rest of her family is unknown. She refuses to speak of it to anyone. For six months, she lived in the city, paying for a room with coin earned from selling stolen goods. One night in a tavern a local drunk was foolish enough to suggest she had been the one to kill her mother and brother. The following dawn found the man dead with an arrow in his head and Deryn nowhere to be found. Though she remained in Alabaster city, she avoided that tavern from then on.
Six months after first arriving in the city, she entered the Drake Trials- and won. She is bonded with the rune drake Dulinth, and they rarely leave each others side. Her victory in the trials was taken personally by Ser Landry, a local lord. He was expected by many to succeed in the trials, and losing to a homeless thief left him feeling scorned. Though he is not willing to risk himself or his men making attacks on a bonded human-drake pair, he makes many indirect political moves with the intent of causing her harm, and has hired mercenaries to hunt her down.
After the first two attacks, she broke into Ser Landry's house by night, stealing a valuable trinket. She still wears it to this day- an enchanted amulet, made of vines, woven into the shape of a rune drake. Amulet: [x] Not long afterwards, Ser Landry's daughter, Beth, stumbled upon the thief in the marketplace, recognizing her by the stolen amulet she wore so boldly. Before she could bring the guards' attention to the thief, Beth found herself pulled into an alleyway by the very same theif. She thought the worst- however, Deryn meant her no harm. She explained everything, much to Beth's dismay. She had a very high opinion of her father, and never thought that he would do such a thing. At first she thought Deryn was lying; however, there was too much evidence to the contrary. She confronted her father about it, which infuriated him. Rather than betray her new friend, she fled. The two women left by night, a year to the day after Deryn first walked into the city.
They travelled together for a year and a half, with no goal other than to see the world and escape Ser Landry's mercenaries. It was a crisp winter day when Beth died. Flying over snowy mountain peaks on the back of Deryn's drake, they unknowingly flew too close to the nest of a griffon. The battle was short and brutal. The griffon's claws latched onto Dulinth's scales, and the two beasts fell from the sky. The griffon was on the two humans in moments, beak and talons tearing at them. Eventually, an arrow pierced the griffon's snowy white breast and it collapsed, dead. But the damage had already been done. Beth lay on the ground, one hand on her stomach but unable to do anything to stop the blood seeping from the cruel gash on her abdomen. Despite Deryn's healing skills, Beth died in her arms, blood red on the snow.
Whether the two women were friends or lovers is unknown; however, they had grown very close during their time together. Deryn was heartbroken by Beth's death. Though badly injured, both she and Dulinth survived their battle with the griffon. She burned Beth's body there on the mountaintop, smoke and flame rising into the cold air. Then, she vanished.
Looking for a way to earn coin, Deryn joined a mercenary company based out of Norland. She has tried not to draw attention to herself- though, as a dragoon, it's difficult- and has mostly succeeded.

Pictures
Face: [x]
Art belongs to me but is not by me. I should have more soon.
Armour: [x]
This, as well as a pair of plain brown trousers, is what Deryn always wears. It is made of leather, and is very light. Though it does not provide much protection, Deryn prefers to avoid attacks rather than block them with armor. The lightweight cuirass allows her more freedom of movement and speed.
Boots: [x]
These leather boots are what Deryn has worn for years. Their sturdy soles and fur-lined interiors are perfect for long trips in cold weather.
Bow: [x]
Deryn commissioned this bow, named Felandris, before the drake trial. It is sturdy and powerful, but not her only weapon. She also carries countless daggers, tucked into her belts and boots.
Bracers: [x]
These leather bracers protect from bowstrings and daggers alike.
Coat: [x]
Deryn dons this hooded cape when in colder weather. She always wears it over her cuirass, however, and the length is short enough that she can draw her bow and move uninhibited. She is always ready for a fight. This coat used to belong to her mother.
Rune stones: [x]
These matching rune stones are a potential lifesaver. With one in Deryn's pocket and the other in Dulinth's saddlebag, they form a connection that Deryn can use to call her rune drake to her if she gets in trouble.
Amulet: [x]
This is the amulet that Deryn stole from Ser Landry. It carries healing magic, and she refuses to be parted from it.

Dulinth
Male Rune Drake
Young Adult
Wisp Rune Drake

Description
Dulinth has been steadily growing since he faced Deryn in the drake trials, but he is still somewhat smaller than the average rune drake. He is nonetheless large enough to carry several riders and be a formidable opponent in battle. He is not large, but he is stocky and powerful. He has a scar across the left side of his chest, from his encounter with the griffin in the mountains. The scales never grew back there. He wears a simple saddle, patched together by Deryn from a stolen horse saddle and various scraps of leather. It looks mismatched and easily breakable, but so far it has held. He wears no reins; his will is his own. The saddle has safety straps to keep the rider in place during risky maneuvers, as well as several saddlebags. In these saddlebags are everything Deryn owns.

Personality
Dulinth acts like Deryn in many ways. Both are fiery and quick to a fight. Dulinth is a proud beast, but it is justified. He fights like a beast from Oblivion, and is bound to no code of honor. However, he is above all else loyal to his bond. He would lay down his life to protect hers, and would carry her on his back to the ends of the earth. Any she tells him to kill, he would gladly set ablaze. But she is no tyrant, and their strong bond relies on the fact that neither controls the other, through fear or physical restraints. As with all rune drakes, Dulinth cannot speak, but his cleverness shows in his complicated battle strategies and ability to sense emotions. In a fight, he is amazingly quick for his size, talons fast and precise.

History
Dulinth submitted himself to the Drake Trials at a young age, after years of living in the wilds. He made for a fierce opponent, and defeated many before facing Deryn. The two battled for what seemed like an eternity, but finally the powerful drake bowed his head. The human woman's quick reflexes and refusal to give up had earned his respect. Deryn visited him every day she stayed in the city, and when she left with Beth, he gladly went with her. His time in the city had left him restless and made his scales itch for adventure. He accompanied the two human women on their wild adventures, and fought against the griffin that killed Beth with everything he had. After Beth's death, the company of her drake was the only thing that kept Deryn from giving up entirely. The two fly together to this day.

Krirlok Voxx
Hailing from clan Krirlock, Vroxx is a krogan soldier and leader of Kalros company. Despite being within the range of average size for a female krogan, she commands the respect of her company with her strength and prowess in battle.
The thick, armored plates on Vroxx's skin are brown, and the frontal plate on her head has an uneven surface, pitted and marred by shrapnel. She wears red heavy armor, and she has pale blue eyes.
Vroxx is an exemplary krogan soldier. She would willingly fight to the death for her warlord, but her skill has kept her alive so far. When the krogan began to turn on the salarians, she followed their lead, glad to have a reason to act on her hatred of them. Like any krogan, she would much rather be in the midst of a battle than planning from a war room, but years serving under a warlord known for his clever strategies has taught her that to win a war, charging head-on into the fight will not always work. Despite having decades of combat experience, she is still young by krogan standards, as they can live upwards of a thousand years. Old age is a nearly unknown cause of death for krogan. Even thousand-year-old krogan will still fight, and will still die in battle.
Though she is an expert tactician if the need arises, Vroxx would much rather be fighting like any other soldier. She keeps her squad in line with violence, preferring to settle an argument with a fight rather than an intellectual debate. If any of them object to a plan, she is more likely to headbutt them into silence than to listen to what they have to say. A good soldier follows orders, and she expects no less from the krogan under her command.

Krirlok "Pyro" Prordan
Pyro is a krogan from clan Krirlok and a member of Kalros company. He wears red armor and is armed with a flamethrower. His skin plates are red, brighter than the armor he wears, and his eyes are yellow.
Pyro is one of the newest members of the company. He was reassigned to Kalros company after his old squad was killed in action. He rarely questions Vroxx's orders, but when he does, he is one of the loudest voices speaking out against her. He is less certain than she is that the krogan are doing the right thing in rebelling against the salarians. The way he sees it, the krogan owe them for uplifting them. However, in a battle against salarians, he enjoys it just as much as the rest.

Kalros Company
Named after the legandary queen of thresher maws, Kalros Company is a small squadron of krogan soldiers. Known for their ferocity in battle, they are always on the front lines of whichever battle needs them most. They pilot a Tomkah transport, and when not in battle, they reside on a krogan flagship. The original Kalros company was formed from random krogan hastily assembled for a mission near the beginning of the krogan rebellions. Since then, several krogan have rotated in and out of the company as they are reassigned or killed. When a new krogan is assigned to the company, it is rare for them to know any of the krogan already there. As they spend more time in the company, the soldiers bond, becoming friends as well as comrades.
