It is a wonderful idea, and there are plans to eventually have a section for items in the codex! ^-^
You can see some of the plans for eldsonas and items here. However, Zayin is currently in the process of rebuilding the site so new features are currently on the backburner. For the time being there is an item archive in the forums that user's can refer to. :)
