I've wanted to learn how to play other stringed instruments for so long... Sadly, I can't bruise or impede my fingers in any way because I practice piano around two hours a day and it'd be a very big setback. Guitar is my dream instrument though, gosh... >.<

@valerian I'm guessing the chords are played a lot differently? xP I wouldn't know, but that sounds like an interesting problem to face, I guess. The chords do seem mighty complicated and alien. e.e

@StartedRaining Thank you so much, Ahhh!!! I like the breathy beginning as well. cx

I began playing guitar sometime last year in the summer by my cousin. She has taught me so much, and I'm glad I am able to play many different songs as well as learn new picking and strumming patterns, I've gotten way better than I was in the beginning. It's so much fun! I am wanting to take voice lessons because when I sing, i don't sound the best. It makes me embarrassed to play in front of others because it's just awkward when you're sitting there strumming your guitar.

My strings on my guitar are really tough and the neck is a bit "wide" I guess?? So I have the hardest time strumming without a pick, especially when my fingernails are short. Anyone have this problem? It's so annoying! Anyway, I'm really bad at bar chords. I've never really have gotten the hang of them, so I try to stay away. I've gotten really fast at switching between chords, though. Compared to when I began? Oh my, it's a huge difference. o___o And learning chords wasn't too easy at first. I found out that the next time my cousin came that I wasn't even doing the right chords... fail!

Anyway, are there any songs that you'd suggest? Strumming/picking patterns? I'm always on the lookout for anything different, so just let me know what you think!

Wow It's like we are the same person! I started playing guitar 2 years ago and had the same problems as you are having now. I loved guitar but I didn't like to sing Infront of people (and I still don't) So I thought about getting a Singing Lesson and I did.It was better and she gave me songs that went with my voice.

Same here (again) My strings are so hard. Once I forgot me pic and I go splitters all over my hands that popped around 30 mins later. I know Ewwwwwwww. With bar chords just practise them till you get the hang of them.

Well Maybe If you haven't done this song already Angels Will die by A-team

Yeah hoped that helped!

Really? That's actually pretty awesome.

That really encourages me to go ahead and take voice lessons for sure. The problem is I don't even know if I'd be able to sing in front of my teacher!

Oh no, that's terrible! Yeah, bar chords are a pain and certainly aren't my favorite. Also, I'll check that song out for sure!

Harmonica's really cool! I only know one other person who can actively play harmonica. She even has a tiny harmonica about the size of a pinky joint that she can still play really well. xP

How long have you been plying piano?

@StartedRaining yeah, it's insane; it's literally a tiny model harmonica, all the little blowholes(is that what they're called, I dunno, THE GAPS IN THE FRONT) all present, all that jazz. She hasn't ever been able to blow individual notes, it's that small. xP

Besides the fact that the song and the instrument used is absolutely ethereal and amazing, I was wondering if anyone knew what the actual instrument was called? Or perhaps gave a link to the video source? This sort of music is absolutely amazing and I wanted to read more into it. cx

That's a beautiful video! I've seen the instrument referred to as a hang drum, but according to the wikipedia page, just "hang" is correct.
