You get eggs from the basket. They're automatically added to the day care for clicks. You can click foals and eggs there for coins (after 75 clicks the egg becomes a foal, after 150 an adult).
There's lots of events going on too so pay attention when one happens, it's well explained always. Also weekend eggs - eggs that only drop once from Thursday to sunday - always announced.
You can also breed some horses which can give the same color or a different color egg.

Unfortunately, new registration is closed for the foreseeable future. The staff have said they want to wait until whatever the big update they're planning is done and implemented, but we players have absolutely no idea when that will be :/

from a buddy of mine on the site who answered me when i made note of the same thing. i've told them it may be a good idea to tell someone to change the 'we're closed' message to something more generic. when i hear of it coming back up, i'll drop a post in here to let people know, too.
