It is a mystery. Even I do not know, but it is rumored that you can find out by meeting the Glitch Ancient on Christmas Eve at 3:43 at night. I don't know who started those rumors, either.

Go to the page with the NPC, and just click over and over again on the NPC's nose. If you do it enough, they will give you the key to the magic tree, just find the tree anywhere on eldemore (including forum posts) and click on it. PM the picture the tree gives you to Sorren, and PM the picture of the key to Captain Willy. They will then send a trade with the token asking for your most valuable pet. Accept the trade, and you collected a token!

Send your PayPal and/or credit information to a shadily friendly looking user over email so they can complete the risky transaction for you, and you should receive your pets within a month or two. If this does not work, just repeat the process.

They only really grow when they become at least a legendary. So don't trade anything until you know that they are legendary!
