Locked because dead.
Ordance.
The world of Eldemore is vast and varied, from the endless sandy deserts beyond Dune, the Cinder Oak forests by Alabaster City, the beautiful Orient Isles; many beautiful landscapes full of brightness and warmth. But not all in Eldemore is bright-- there are dark places, and Ordance is one such place.
Ordance is the name of both the mass of ice and land at Eldemore's north pole, as well as the kingdom that has sprung up on the other side of the great ironwood and conifer forests. The people there pride themselves on-- as they say-- being the toughest and strongest Eldemore has to offer, able to survive in some of the scarcest conditions. The summer months are rather kind, nearly six months of solid sunshine that melts away the worst of the ice and keeps the storms little but slush, and the people work hard 'round the clock in order to stock enough food and fuel for the winter.
Once the sun goes down, though, it is gone for the next six months of the year. This long night, however, is not cause for grief-- the summer months are for work, the people of Ordance say, the night is for celebration and fun. Bonfires are common, and the first night is marked by an enormous feast hosted around the castle; other events include competitions for ice and snow sculptures, performers and markets set up.
But the night is long and full of dark and cold, full of beasts that would gladly destroy the unprepared. Blizzard runes that tower twelve feet tall or more, great, feral dire wolves and leones that have lost all sense of self and sanity, ice birds with talons like knives and gods only know what else lurking in the trees and on the plains beyond.
For the most part, Ordance's army is able to keep these threats at bay, but this past year has been... different. The summer's harvest has been the lowest in over three decades, a result of the winter blizzards lasting well into the long day. If it can even be called a day-- the sky is constantly shrouded by thick clouds, blocking nearly all light. And now the day is nearly gone, night is falling and the forest is alive with nightmares. The army rangers have gone in, bringing back tales of reanimated corpses, liches and wraiths and banshees unseen since the time of Kalros the Ancient... and that's if they come back at all. Even more have simply never come out, and are listed as killed in action-- there's no way they could survive, everyone thinks.
The rangers are weak. King Simon and his own Ancient have left to seek help from beyond Ordance's borders, but who knows when he'll return? The commander of Ordance's army, Ardent Vysar, has decided to call upon any brave enough to join her in the meantime. This is something beyond the usual winter, some kind of horrible dark magic... but the people of Ordance are strong, and they have hope. Even if the night is long, day will always come, darkness will always yield to light.

Rules
-Proper spelling and grammar is required. Post length isn't as important, but I do hope to see everyone put in at least one solid paragraph per reply.
-Characters cannot be under the age of 18. This is some dangerous stuff that will happen, enough to where any kid/young teen being able to handle it would probably qualify them as edging on being a Sue. No more than two characters (does not include elkrins, Direwolves, Leones and/or Runes) a person. I will not be accepting Ancient bearers, either. That would just make things too easy However, if your character is the child of an Ancient and their bearer, they will be allowed.
-Romance is allowed, but should not be the focus of the rp. On that note, all orientations will be accepted
-Common sense, people. It is your friend
-No fontmeme or images in (IC) posts, but BBC coding/prettying up is allowed. You can use fontmeme/images of your runes/bond creatures in character profiles.
-This rp is in third person, past tense POV. Nothing first person, and that includes forms. On that note-- please make your own forms. Just make sure they include your character's name, appearance, a brief (or long, if you want xD) overview of personality and history *at the very least, explain how they came to Ordance and got involved with this expedition*, and any elkrin/runes/etc they might own. Please, keep everything consistent with the lore we have so far. Major points to remember: Anyone can be a rune bearer and bonded to multiple runes, but can only be bonded to one other companion creature-- one elkrin, one liger, or one direwolf. Also keep in mind that very powerful rune bonds and all elkrin bonds cause the bearer's appearance to change. [u]I also require a sample of writing, unless you were in the CS version and pre-approved. I would highly prefer you just pick a recent rp post of yours, or anything that gives me an idea of what your usual writing style/amount is like.
-Stuff will be added/removed/reworded as necessary, because Commander Shepard is sometimes a derp.
-Have any questions? Ask me, I'm always happy to answer
