History - His parents were killed in battle against a dragon, so he had always hated dragons with a vehemence for most of his life. When Hiccup introduced the dragons to Berk, he had strongly objected against the idea that dragons might be good. Even now he did not have a close bond with his dragon. They had a silent agreement to tolerate each other, and left it at that.
