Not so, little child. This is an RP about US.
I have made a handy dandy little list to clear some stuff up.

Distortionist, cjr09, Sphye, and SkieNight are vacationing in the Atlantic but now their boat is starting to spontantiously sink! It seems to be caused by a massive hole in the stern. Water is coming in at a slow but steady pace. The nearest land is a small island on the horizon, and there's no sign of human life in sight. All four girls are huddled on the top deck with what they could salvage.

- A dull kitchen knife
- A life jacket
- 10 yards of rope
- A box of matches
- A wooden plank
- A plastic yellow tarp
- 3 loaves of bread
- An empty backpack
- An empty gallon jug
- A flyswatter
- A metal pipe
- 5 small planks of wood

A section of the deck comes loose and the girls crawl on top of it as the rest of the ship sinks. Now they are stranded in the middle of the ocean with no way to contact others. Only your knowledge could save us.

Your mission is to work together with the other girls to try and survive. No Googling, no superpowers. Your skills/weakness must be evident. I will post a narrator post every time something important happens, ie. I can make a group of sharks appear. A poll will be put up to decide if someone dies or not if their conditions are bad. Whoever survives will be given an advantage in the next round. Nicknames might be in order. Go on, fletchlings, and try not to die!

Distortionist frowns at the water, willing herself not to cry at the carnage. How had everything gone so wrong so fast? She turns back to the others and the items, busying herself by putting everything edible in one pile while waiting for someone to speak.

[Sphye]

Sphye was nearly stunned with the realization of the situation. She guessed that it wouldn't be long before the waves overtook the boat completely, but time seemed to be standing still. What could she do to save herself? Or the others, chimed in some part of her brain that wasn't acting like an alpaca in a molasses puddle.
Yes, of course the others, too, her thoughts replied. You know what I meant. The arguments between herself seemed to be working just fine, even in a situation such as this.
Her first instinct was to see if anyone else came up with an idea first, since she hadn't yet even begun a plan of her own. She vaguely recalled having read that sinking ships caused other, smaller things to sink rapidly after, pulling them into the depths of the water like diving toys.

The silence hung thick over her head. Distortionist, having finally piled all of the meager food supplies on her end of the raft, looked up to meet her fellow castaway's eyes. The noon sun beat down hotly on the four and the windless air was nearly unbearable. She burst out, "What are we going to do?" It was a question she assumed was on everyone's mind. Tiny waves rippled across the surface of the water, the only sign that a massive boat had gone down there only moments before. No, wait, a water-darkened piece of wood and several random shards bobbed in the waves nearby. Distortionist felt fairly certain that 1. Her eyesight was terrible and 2. They should probably try to salvage some more stuff.

Reaching out, her arms could touch the tip of the wood. They already had a few planks, but anything would help at this point. She dragged it closer and inspected the surface. The board was oddly shaped, with a broad groove near one end. An idea popped into her head. Experimentally pushing it through the water, the raft moved a little. Rowing wasn't much, but it was all they had to move.
