"I don't want it to grow," he said quietly, "Actually, I kind of want it shorter."

"Like how short?" Shady asked wearily. "I like it long like this. And...what do you think would happen if we tried to cut your hair? "

[Startedraining]

Cody paused to think. "Short enough so that I don't look like Caleb," he said, reflecting how Shady had told Cody that his hair was nearly the same as Caleb's.

"But I like your long hair. " she murmured, laughing into the words she spoke. She ran a hand through it, and played with the long strands. "I don't know if I would let you cut your hair. If you had it shorter, I fear you would look bad. " she grinned at the thought.

Cody snorted, "Me? Look bad? Never." He closed his eyes, "I want to separate myself from Caleb's image." he confessed, "He is part of your life and so am I, I'd hate for you two to someday not be able to tell us apart."

Shady sighed at this. "Cody, you are a whole different person from Caleb. Just because you two have the same hair doesn't mean you are going to get confused with him." She paused for a moment, deciding mentally if she should bring up what she felt about Caleb at the moment. She loved the boy, but she was confused on how he saw her. "Caleb is confusing. I don't know what's going on with him, sometimes. Do you get what I mean? "

[Startedraining]

"I know he's confusing, I do know," he broke off, finding the words to explain.
"I feel like us looking so alike will cause you to be confused with your own feelings. I feel like it would be like choosing between a mirror self and you. Different people shouldn't look so alike, especially since the same girl loves them both."

[W o n d e r l a n d ; ;]

Shady sighed. "I don't know what I feel. " she admitted quietly.
"Sometimes, I don't know if Caleb likes me like that, or just as a friend. He...I don't think he knows wha he wants. I don't know what I want. " she propped herself up on her elbows. "There's nothing I can really do to help you look different. " she pulled his hair, hard, but knew it would not hurt.

Cody shrugged, "I'm not sure if we can cut it, but whatever. Maybe I'll manifest longer hair and put it in a pony tail."

What Cody said only resulted in a quite disgusted look from Shady, who was trying to imagine Cody with a ponytail. "In another life", she started, "Maybe. But certainly not. " she shuddered, letting go of his hair. "Don't you remember being born, growing up? Have you always been this age, this weight, same hair length...?"
