Leona would have gladly helped the princess into her dress, that was after all the maids job, but she figured the Charlotte was use to being independent. When the princess asked for a hand at zipping up the dress Leona simply stepped forward and zipped up the dress, clipping the little clip at the neckline before making sure all the bows were neat and everything was in its proper place. "Do you wish for me to do your hair?" the maid asked turning back to the bed and picking up the gloves and shoes. "If not, then here are your things. O here's a tip: wear your gloves until the food is served, only then you can take them off." She offered the girl a small smile. Charlotte spoke again and Leona listened carefully. "Well..." she didn't know exactly what the King wanted, for it was always his word, but she figured he'd let Charlotte have a buddy if she was lonely. "I'll be escorting you there, but I couldn't possibly sit at the table with you. I'm sure there will be more than just him there. You'll probably meet some other nobles."

Charlotte thought for a second, and then said, "If you would like to. I'm not used to having a maid, so I dont know what I should or shouldn't have you do", she knew, back in the town, castle maids were higher up the "food chain" than any townsmen would ever wish to be. Far below the royals, they were, but higher than townsmen.

She took the gloves and studied them a bit distastefully, before she decided it would be for the better if she indeed would put them on. She too the shoes and put them on as well, but she had noticed they were slightly small for her. "I would hope you could escort me, as I am quite bad at directions", she smiled gently, and stood up to brush herself off.

Leona giggled at the girl's words. "Well, a Lady's maid helps her get dressed, does her hair and is there to do what ever her mistress asks of her." The maid sighed though and moved the bun atop her head slightly. "Really though, I'm simply here to help you learn the way of the castle and to make sure you don't get into any trouble." Her eyes glanced up the wall at the clock before she looked back at Charlotte. She walked towards the door and opened it up to the hall. She looked back as Charlotte spoke again and smiled. "That is my job, my Lady." she curtsied slightly then stopped. "We can do your hair later." she said realizing something very important. "I have one question though. Do you know how to curtsy?" It was important that one could curtsy, as it was a sign of respect and showed the lady's class.

Charlotte smiled slightly and said, "So, if I really am the one who you hae been looking for, I should be seeing you a lot?", she pondered that for a money, weighing the pros and cons of such a thing. Obviously, the pros overruled the cons by a significant amount, and she spoke once more. "Once I learn the ways of the castle, will you leave? Will you go help some other newcomer?"

Out of curiosity, Charlotte tried to push herself into the mind of Leona. She was already weak, and felt a sharp pain retaliate the back of her mind. She winced at this, but doubted the maid even felt her attempt at intrusion. When curtsying was mentioned, Charlotte almost laughed out loud. "Of course I can curtsy! It's used in many traditional dances back in the town, and I was usually doing them. Mostly then I was younger, very young..." She sighed. She curtsied then, gracefully, to show she knew.

The maid watched the princess and nodded. "Yes, I will be with you for much of the way." Charlotte seemed to drift into her own mind every now and again, or so Leona noticed. The maid couldn't blame her though for she was in a new place and had a lot thrown upon her in one day. However, Charlotte's next question surprised Leona. "Me, leave?" She hadn't thought of that before and couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "To be honest we don't get many new comers here. It's rare for someone to just walk into the noble life style. But even if there were new comers you'd have to send me off. My job is to serve you, my Lady, for I am your Lady's maid. You're sort of stuck with me."

Leona turned and glanced into the hall, looking down it. As she thought, guards were stationed at the end of the long walk way. Working in the palace was fun, but with all the security measures it could be rather annoying at times. As she thought this is barely felt anything push against her mind, and what she did feel she ignored it as a passing though. She was thankful though for Charlotte to be able to curtsy, and the princess curtsied very well for a person who was raised as a commoner. "Good, I was worried for a second." The girl slipped into the hall and waited for Charlotte to join her before she started down the walk way. "These rooms around us are a mixture of studies and, those doors to the left, those lead to the second floor of the library."

Charlotte smiled gently as she said, "Imglanits you and not some shy or boisterous maid. I wouldn't want you to treat me like I'm someone special, because I'm not. I'm still very much elf. ", she ran a had through her slightly damp hair before folding her towel. "Am I with you as long as Im here? If I am the lost princess...", that made her mind wander back to Forrest, who she still didn't know if he was safe. "Am I ever allowed to leave the castle? To visit...friends? "

Charlotte also was a bit nervous about being royal, for arranged marriage were almost always guaranteed. She wanted the freedom to love, or to not love, and did not want To make such a big deal about it. She soon realised Leona had started to leave, and she quickly followed closely behind. "A library? ", she repeated, glancing to her left. Flanking her to the right were the studies, probably of the people who lived there.

Leona smiled and gave the girl a sympathetic look. "I know this has to be a lot to take in. But, living here is nice, easy and you have virtually nothing to worry about except what to wear to the next party. As long as you don't anger the king or the guards you'll be fine. And I'll be right here to help the best I can." she smiled again as they walked out of the room. "But you have to get it in your head that you are the princess. You aren't some lost girl anymore you're someone very important, and you must know that." At the princess's next question Leona stopped and her dark eyes dropped to the floor. The maid shuffled her feet slightly and spoke very softly, "I'd like to believe the King would let you, but his majesty isn't know for being understanding... I'm sorry."

Leona started walking again, she made sure to stay a bit in front of Charlotte so she could lead the girl off to the gardens where lunch would be served. She smiled at Charlotte's interest in the Library. "Yes, it's two stories. Those large oak doors lead to the second story balcony." the maid sighed wishfully. "I've only been in there to clean but it's beautiful. I wish I could have the opportunity to sit and read some of the older books, but alas, duty calls." They were coming to the end of the hall where two guards were standing. "This is where you will learn, the guards are a bunch of pushovers, and if they threaten you, you simply have to threaten back." On guard looked up and noticed them coming. "Why are you leaving the hall with the girl?" He asked. Though Leona was almost two heads shorter than the guards she simply put her hands on her hips and looked up at him with a glare. "I'll have you know, you should refer to my mistress as Your Highness or My Lady. A princess should never be referred to as 'girl', and we are going to meet the king. I presume you'll want to know where we are eating lunch and even what we are eating! Am I right Mr. Busy-Body?" The guards gulped and backed up. "I am sorry Ma'am, you and Her Majesty can be off."


{Also I'm leaving for camp on Sunday so I will not post until late Friday. Sorry.}

Charlotte was slightly offended by the phrase, 'some lost girl anymore', and she scowled as it was said. "I neee said I was some lost girl. And, in fact, I was not lost. I did have a family, who I loved very much and still do. And I am rather independent, and if the king can't understand that I may want to go out, he and I will have quite the issues. ", she said, her voice edged sharp as a blade with disobedience. It wasnt only that she wanted her freedom, but when someone told her one thing, she was always determined to do the opposite. She was slightly frightened when the maid stopped in her tracks and muttered how the king did not have very much sympathy, and Charlotte shifted her own weight. "That doesn't matter. He will have to learn if he wants to keep a daughter. ", she murmured.

"It is quite beautiful. And if you are my personal maid, then I can let you leave when I want to, right? Some day, I will dismiss you and let you go to the library. Or if that's not permitted, I will be sure to go there as have you accompany me. So you can come as well. ", she smiled kindly to Leona, and then averted her gaze. She got a queasy feeling as she spoke the words 'someday', as she didnt want to stay. She wanted to find Forrest, to see how he was doing and speak to him. She didn't understand it, but she foud herself drawn to him. She wanted to be with him, and his defiance. She was plucked from her heavy hearted thoughts by the sound of a guard's deep voice. She frowned deeply at his comment, offended for the second time in a matter of minutes. She raise her eyebrows at the husky word's of Leona, and she followed her with a small chuckle. "For a small person, you sure do have a big mouth. In a good way. "

The little maid's eyes widened at the girl's words. She opened her mouth to speak, she wanted to apologize and say that her words had come out incorrectly, but nothing came. Leona was completely and totally speechless. She simply dropped her gaze and continued down the hall without so much as a word, for only a few seconds that is. It was odd for the girl to be quiet, truth be tolled she was one of the chattiest maids in the castle, and everyone knew it. The girl had a bit mouth and a rather sharp tongue when she wanted too, not like she meant all of it, but she could be cold when she wanted to be. But no matter what, Leona could always find something to say, if something or someone shut her up then something had to have been up. As she continued (for she finally found her voice and had begun to talk again) and was lost in thought she missed Charlotte's comment about her father. Either that or she chose to ignore, it, it was hard to tell.

How ever when the girl spoke about the maid being able to go in the library Leon's eyes light up with a new light. "Really?" she sounded breathless and was once again speechless. "You'd do that for me?" she didn't know what to say, she never imagined a princess letting her nevertheless wanted her to go into the royal library. "I.... Thank you. I don't think you know what that means to me, even if it was just a hollow promise." They came up to the guard and Leona snapped at him a few times and soon the pair was off down the hall way that lead to the main stairs. Turning the maid started down one of two large and very grand stair cases. She laughed and Charlotte's comment and shook her head. "Thank you. But you should know that's the only way to live in this palace. You'll pick up on it shorty, though I doubt you'll have much of a problem with it." she laughed again and at the bottom of the stairs she made a right and then a left. "As long as one acts confident and dominant you'll get almost anything."

Charlotte couldn't help but smile at the other girl's joy, and she said, "Of course I would. And I promise you it is not a hollow promise. I want to go there anyway...and it would be my own pleasure to take you with me", she glanced at her, still a few paces behind. She laughed a bit nervously and said, "Im not like that. But...hopefully I will learn. Presumably from you, as well. How far until we're at my fathers place? We have been walking for quite a while now. " she glanced down at her own feet, playing with the hem of her dress.

Although Charlotte knew this was her father—it didn't stop her from getting a foul feeling. She remembered stories of how the princess had gotten lost, and this man was almost always the bad guy. Not only did this put lead in Charlotte's stomach, it made her heart skip a beat when he was to realise that she was simply as hot headed as he is. She got her mothers compassion, wits, and magic—and her fathers personality and some of his looks.
