1x1 With Lady LeStraud

Postby SkieNight » Sun Jul 06, 2014 6:12 pm

The land of Eldemore has bee at peace now for hundreds of years. So long that it's dark past has been almost completely buried under the more modern history of Alabaster and the likes. However in the far reaches of the great land a darkness is spread. Hidden in the shadows are whispers of dark magic returning to the land after almost 1000 years. This take a turn for the worst when one by one people (human & bearers alike) begin to vanish. It happens over night, one minuet they are there and the next it's as if they have vanished into thin air, leaving no traces of their captor. As these forces move through Eldemore it is only a matter of time before people notice and begin to take action, the only question is this: Who can fight something that no one can see?

Knowing the Basics

Full Name}} Her name is Ian Esther LeStraud, meaning "starring gift from the gracious god". A name with power behind it, and responsibility. A name like that is something to live up to.
Nickname}} The people she cares about call her Ian.
Gender}} Ian is a female, despite her first name. Her father always wanted a son.
Age}} Ian is roughly eighteen years old, she could be a few years younger or older. She hasn't really kept track, and the years have blurred together.
Job}} Ian is a Rune Bearer, traveler, thief, assassin, scout, rogue. She has many titles.
Desired Job}} She's doing what she loves.
Physical Features}} Ian has deep chocolate-brown hair a few that reaches a few inches below her shoulders. She keeps it out of her face in an elaborate braided bun. Her facial structure is well-defined, with high cheekbones and full lips. Her top lip is slightly out of proportion with her bottom one, being slightly less full, but isn't noticeable until she points it out. Her eyes are a deep hazel color flecked with grey, and usually flicker with mischief. She stands at a tall 5'9, above average for most women. Her limbs are long and well-proportioned, her body toned and lithe from many years at her line of work. Her skin is tanned from years in the sun and freedom, and the faint beginnings of crow's feet can be seen around her eyes, the product of years of squinting into the sun. That is, until she bonded with her three runes.

The first was Murmuro, the jade-green Celtic Wolf Rune from the Celtlands. He lended an inch of his massive height, a higher forehead and a flatter nose. Her eyes turned from a greyish chocolate to a greenish hue, though still extremely dark. Her hair grew coarser and longer, causing her to change her style from a bun to a single braid that hangs to the middle of her back. He also lent her surprising speed and agility, and a stamina that rivals the elkrin of the plains. He also lent her a certain hardiness that comes in handy during harsh winter months.

Ethoria lent her a fierceness to her gaze, her eyes now more yellow than mossy green-hazel. Her fingers are longer, with sharper nails, and her canines sharper and more defined. Her skin became resistant to heat, she no longer has the ability to sweat - she doesn't need to. Her body temperature can also fluctuate ten degrees in either direction without any physical effects, though if she stays outside her optimum range (between 90 and 110 degrees) it will, eventually, kill her.

Lorelei gave her grace, poise, and the ability to swim faster than most, though dedicated swimmers and those bonded to other sea runes are also on her level. Her navigation and tendency to wander, as well as steal, increased with him; and she is rarely happy for long in one place.

Digging Deeper
.
Personality}} Ian is known as a tough girl. She strives to keep her sarcasm in check and loves making friends, though she is choosy about the people she associates with. In conversation she does her best to be polite, though she has HDHD and has a hard time staying focused when her life is boring. She loves to steal just about anything- an influence from her Siren Rune -, though she is rather skeptical of compliments since she sees nothing but errors in her work. Ian also has a deep love for animals, wanting to fill her 'home' up with them and, on the off chance that she'd end up alone, thinks that being an old rune lady would be absolutely delightful. She's always going to be there for her friends without fail. Loyalty and devotion to friends is a big part of who she is. So if you call Ian your ally, or friend, don't ever worry about her not standing up for you when someone verbally, emotionally, or physically attacks you.

That being said Ian is really an outgoing person, when it comes to starting conversations with people she doesn't know...well, it tends to get very out of hand. Girls, listen up. Ian can't keep her hands off of things that aren't hers.... especially guys. She is a light sleeper, taking usually at least an hour before falling asleep, and even then she is always ready for an attack. Being that she has a large celtic wolf rune sleeping at her feet helps, too. Ian also tends to catch on to tension, and will often leave town or talk to that person before he/she stabs her in the back... literally. All she asks is that you watch her back and guard her stuff, and she'll be your friend for life.

      Image

History}} Ian grew up in an estate just outside of Alabaster City. Around her tenth year (considered almost an adult, by her society's standards) she discovered that her father was having an affair. She also discovered that their had been a child of that union, born just three months after herself. She was disgusted, and grew to hate her father. She had her Adultering party, and soon after fell in love with Aspen St. Claire, a son of the St. Claires. Only one problem - he was already engaged. They made plans to get married anyway, but her father found out and disowned her. She left her love to travel, knowing that he could not marry a woman who had no status in society. She stayed in an inn in the city, learning how to protect herself with a blade from a retired keeper.

She left a few years before Hubris came to power, stumbling upon a rune in the forest. He brought her to Benathorn and Jendalie's cottage, and she learned of the runes and all they had to offer. Instead of joining her brothers and sisters in arms, Ian felt no desire to fight in the war. Instead, she learned of a large rune deep in the heart of the Celtlands, and journeyed there on the back of a stolen horse. She bonded with the Celtic Wolf Rune, Murmuro, and stayed in the Celtlands to further her training.

A couple of months later the pair headed for the volcanoes and a bearer called Sophie LeClaire. Ian bonded with Sophie's feisty Scoria discovery, taking in the little female as her own. It wasn't long before Ian and the she-devil bonded, and from there they decided to avoid Hubris' minions and head for the wild western coasts. There she bonded with Lorelei, the Siren Rune, and Ian discovered a tiny island off the mainland - really no more than a spit of dirt; but covered in lush forests and meadows. She built a little cottage and has 'lived' there ever since, though she leaves for large periods of time to travel and often comes back to a nest of runes that have to be convinced to find a different place to live than her bathroom counter. Now that she has heard tales of a mysterious evil, she has left her cottage to return to Benathorn's base and see what she can do to help out.

      Image

Love is Weakness

Bonded with}} Lorelei the siren rune, Ethoria the scoria rune, Murmuro the celtic wolf rune.
Growing fond of}} Formerly engaged to Aspen St. Claire, now - unknown.
Married to}} She does not plan to get married anytime soon.
Mother to}} Ian has no children and plans on adopting when the time comes. She has seen orphans and will not bring a child into the world when there is one in need of mothering.

{Sorry it isn't fancy. I figured I'd use the one I used for the companionship index. Also would you like to start or would you prefer that I make the first post?}

Name: James Therelle
Gender: Male
Age: 20 or so
Nationality or place of origin: Some where among the Celtlands
Current place of residence: Though James is often nomadic, he spends much of his time at Mt. Bastion.

Appearance:
Due to the fact that James was born and raised, for at least some of this life, in the Celtlands it makes sense that he is more of a hearty individual. He isn't large in weight or 'body image' he really is just a bigger guy. He has stronger, slightly wider shoulders, more powerful looking arms and just a bigger build in general. It's not just his build that's bigger, James is also quite a bit taller standing around six foot one, or six foot two. Atop his head is mop of dark brown hair that is naturally messy, it never seems to lie flat. His eyes are a dark, chocolate brown. Though his skin is either dark or olive like, it definitely has a natural tan color too it.

Since bonding with Cilia James has taken a more feline look. His once pure brown eyes now seem more cat like and have hints of gold mixed in with the brown. His messy hair seems even more wild, standing in all directions. He still keeps his sturdy build however it's as if he's slimmed out slightly. Over all James now seems to have a very feral look to him. He also has a large rune-like marking on his left shoulder, this is Cilia's bonding mark.

Personality:
James is most definitely a gentle giant. Though in mass he is rather large, he wouldn't hurt a fly. The young man is one of a very clam and rather intellectual mind. Even at a young age he was asking odd questions that others had to sometimes stop and think about. He is definitely a 'smart' person. Not in the math sense, he could care less about that kind of thing; it's more in the historical and literary sense. Because of his time on the mountain and up bringing, James is a very well educated person. Of coarse he is always interested in expanding his knowledge, and is always looking for people and things that could give him information that he doesn't have. James doesn't know everything and he doesn't pretend too.

Because of his calm and rather quiet outer shell, James could easily be considered someone who is either very introverted or shy. In a why he is both. James is not one to just go up and talk to someone. It's not that he is untrusting; he just can't bring himself to say the first words to someone knew. And when he does it's normally rather stuttered, and slightly awkward. Though once one talks to him, he will gladly keep up the conversation. However he is not one for a lot of social activities, he is a friendly guy but it only goes to a point. It might be because of Cilia or it might just be him, but either way he only likes so much social contact. After a while he just can't help but detach himself from the world. He'd rather be around knowledge and books then people and creatures.

Of coarse his knowledge also has its down falls. James is a very logical thinker. It's to the point where he has to think about many of his decisions; he doesn't just follow his gut. James is very bad at listening to his heart or his gut. He's terrible at making on the whim decisions, and if he does he tends to jump back and forth and becomes very undeceive. He has to do what his mind thinks is right even if he heart isn't fully into it. He just can't bring himself to jumping into a decision because he doesn't want to make a mistake and regret anything. He is one to follow the rules and almost always refuses to do anything that even breaks a law or rule slightly. He finds that completely wrong, and against what he 'believes', though it really is against what he thinks.

Overall James really isn't a person meant for bad situations. The boy suffers from high anxiety that he got for whatever reason. He gets stressed very easily, in both every day situations and events of high stress. He is also a person very sensitive to other's stress. If they start freaking out he'll most likely follow right after.

Skills and weaknesses:
James is really quite brilliant. Even without the help of the other monks and his companion, James is still one smart lad. He has a natural curiosity that helps feed his knowledge. Any day James would love to just sit down with a book and learn. He loves knowledge and is always open to learning new things. Because of his brain James is also a very good problem solver, but only when the problem involves logical thinking. Another added bonus to his thirst for knowledge is also the fact that he's good at solving riddles.

With his education and intellectual mind comes the natural talent to write. It's a rather silly skill and isn't that rare, however as James knows well to be a good writer takes practice and skill. Really the boy is a natural, though it is most likely picked up from the many books he has read and the time he has spent practicing writing and from learning up on the mountain. Though it's a rather random skill to have, it's one James is proud of.

From living on Mount. Bastion and growing in the Celtlands James really has become a natural helper. Though he's not the best with people- even if he is friendly -the boy has a soft heart and often goes out of his way to help others. Over time one could almost say his helpfulness is a 'skill'. He might not be good under pressure but James will always make himself available if someone is in need. Not rescuing their lives, in need, but if they need him to do some choirs or they need help writing a letter or any thing really. This helpfulness can really just be broken down into the fact that James is good at following directions and taking directions.

Though James is not good with people, he finds conversations awkward, the young man is an eloquent speaker. Like many of his skills it's due to his education and his infatuation with knowledge, books and anything of the sort. His knowledge of language along with his knowledge of the subject matter just adds to his ability. Even if the boy is a good speak, he sounds nice, his sentences make sense, et cetera; James will not- under any circumstances -speak in public.

Oddly enough the boy has a fairly good memory. Not with names, or anything of that sort, but with knowledge and his ability to store facts away. For what ever reason he remembers odd things, maybe it's a fact from some book he read, or something interesting someone tolled him long ago. Though he might not remember the book or the face, he'll know what it/they said, and he'll be bale to use that knowledge later. Just a little thing that makes him handy at times.

Once again, from his thirst of knowledge comes some fun little things that James knows. For instance, the young man does in fact know how the travel by star. This is because as he travels all over Eldemore he doesn't want to be bothered by carrying maps, and so he taught him self a bit of astrology, enough for him to know how to get from point A to point B

We all ready have talked about this, but we know the boy is Undeceive. It takes James a while to make up his mind about things and even when he comes to a conclusion at some point he's bound to change it. One again this is because of his mind and his knowledge, he is always worried he'll make the wrong decision and put people in danger and so he must weight all the options, which doesn't work on speedy decisions.

James has a habit of only following what his head says, even if his gut is telling him differently. This is because the boy had come to believe that the knowledge he possesses and other posses will be enough to get them out of any situation and that gut and heart don't matter.

James is a pacifist. He can't bring himself to kill a fly, no matter how annoying he is. So when a battle comes the boy is totally and utterly useless. He can't even imagine holding a knife, never the less using one.

The young man is quiet, very introverted, and is honestly pretty socially awkward. Though the man is an eloquent speaker, talking to people is a different story. It might be due to Cilia, or it might just be the fact that the boy spends much of his time alone. Though he is friendly, James just finds interactions to be uncomfortable.

For what ever reason James has a naturally high anxiety. This makes pressured situations even worse for the poor boy, especially ones with decisions, and he just doesn't do well in those environments. There really isn't much to add to it besides it's pretty bad for him.

Skills and/or weaknesses acquired from companion:
James' senses are incredibly heightened due to Cilia. His ears are sensitive enough to hear a pin drop in a room with people talking, at normal volume, and his eyes can see pretty well in the dark, though it's nowhere near a cat's vision. HIs reflexes have also been heightened, though that part is useless to him due to the fact that he can't fight. However, for what ever reason James doesn't like water. He isn't scared of it or anything it just makes him very uncomfortable.

History:
~Growing Up~
James was born in a little village among the Celtlands. In truth it's not even worth mentioning the name for the small town never appears on any map. Still his family got by, though they were neither rich nor poor, they could do better, but it could always have been worse. His father, Mark Therelle, was a merchant not a terribly successful one but he supplied for the family. His mother Margret Callaway was a teacher in the town along with being a mother to four. Yes, James had three other siblings, all of whom were young and female (Maria, April, Stella). Still growing up was fun and he and his siblings had many great times together. However, his fondest memories are when his father took him to Alabaster City. James fell in love with the capitol, but most importantly he fell in love with their library, something which his little town lacked. He went there as often as he could and would spend days on end reading book after book. Along with the library, James would also sit in on classes of various sorts, it was Alabaster City that really turned James into a seeker of knowledge.

~During the Purge~
In truth when Hubris came to power along with the Cutter, James and his family where not very affected. Yes, there was much fear, for James' eldest sister, Maria who was still younger then him, had bonded with a rune dragon not long before. James was a young teen then, and though he still went to Alabaster often, he was not blind of the war that was going on in the shadows of the once beautiful city. Still, life went on and James was lucky, his family was over looked and his sisters knew little to noting about the whole event, though they did know somethings. Still it was a dark time in history, one that the boy would like to just skip over.

~Journey to the Mountain~
When James was about fifteen or sixteen years of age he stumbled upon a book in the library, one that changed his life. The book was on the sacred mountain of Mount. Bastion, the home of the ligers and the keepers and all their knowledge. What was interesting, was that James wasn't even interested in the large felines at first, it was just the idea of knowledge that made him leave his home and head for the mountains far away. It was hard leaving his family behind, but somewhere in his heart (and he never listened to his heart) he knew that this was what was meant to be. And so he started off, through the Celtlands past Alabaster City, where he did stop for a day or two, and into the wilderness. On his journey he met an odd little creature, and Otterling. With a stream running in his back yard, at least when he lived there, he knew what an otterling was and he'd seen them before. However, this one was different, he studied the small pink thing for a while before he headed off again, he needed to find shelter for the night. As he was setting up camp he noticed movement, and sure enough, there was the otterling. The small thing had just followed him around, and still does. Though he never bonded with her, he calls her Gweli, The Meeting of Gweli. And so the two traveled on and eventually found the mountain. James was surprised how welcomed he was, but in the end he knew it had been just what he wanted.

~The Bonding~
James lived on the mountain for quite a few years. He met many liger keeps and some ligers but he never felt the connection. Though out his studies, Gweli remained with him, and the exact reason why was unknown. One day James was walking with the otterling around the mountain, that was the day he met Cilia (Story here). After the close encounter, James thought he'd never see the liger again. Yet somehow, every day when he was taking a walk around the mountain he'd run into her. This accrued day after day until the two would end up walking together. Eventually the liger announced that she wanted James as her partner, initially James was shocked, he never though that he'd be one to get a companion. But the boy agreed and the two bonded and haven't been separated since. (Story here)

~Life Afterwords~
After Bonding with Cilia, he spend a little more time on the mountain before realizing that he wanted to travel throughout Eld to search for knowledge. That was how James' newest journey began. One morning, after some good byes, he set off down the mountain to travel the land. Though he knew all about Eldemore, and how to get from one point to another, he had never seen the entire kingdom, only the Celtland Mount Bastion and Alabaster. And so he started at the mountain and went from town to town with Cilia and Gweli. He returns to the mountain every now and then to ether tell them some important news or to just go home, but he is still traveling an learning, and that might be what he does for the rest of his life.

Name: Cilia
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Species: Liger
Type: Tribal Ligers

Appearance:
Image
Cilia is the average size for a female liger, though because of her larger muscle mass she might be slightly larger then average. She has a powerful build with naturally athletic legs, large paws, and a strong chest. She has the classic look of a tribal liger, though her base brown is about a shade darker then most. Cilia also carries the tribal markings of her type, though of course, she does sport a few extra on her back and her tail, her pelt does not seem over crowded with markings. Her amber eyes burn like fire, and the crest on her neck is slightly longer then most ligers, but doesn't look abnormal.

Personality:
Just like her look, Cilia has a fierce personality. The feline is not one to hold back what she is thinking and speaks not only to her keeper with a free tongue, but to others as well. She could be described as what many reefer to as 'sassy', and even can come off as just being rude. Honestly, the cat couldn't care less of what others think of her. As long as she has her keeper she is content, and she can be very protective over James. She is not easily trusting and really it takes a while for the cat to fully believe in someone, sometimes she'll never truly trust them. However, once you have earned the cats trust and licking the feline will ever let harm reach you, if she has a say in it. Though she only likes a few, she'll make sure to know who they are and remind them constantly. However, the cat also has a jealous side. A stated earlier she cares greatly for James, and if anther female catches his eyes she won't be afraid to try and step between them. She honestly is scared of being replaced, so she tries to scare off possible suiters as much as possible. Or just make their life miserable, which ever comes first. She doesn't care what others think of her, and she expects that they don't care what she thinks of them.

History:
Cilia lived on Mount. Basion all her life, and honestly never dreamed of anything but her life among the rocks. She was raised by the monastery and watched quite a few bondings between Ligers and man, though they were rare. Honestly the feline never believed that she would ever be bonded, she expected to live on the mountain all her life, and be happy, which she was. Of corse, there was always that little thought in the back of her mind that she wanted to leave and see Eldemore, but her place was on the mountain and there she would stay. Her days were long and relaxed, not much a happened, and she didn't expect much to happy.

Before James stepped into her life, she had only one close encounter with a person. An odd human, one who was training to be a monk, found Cilia fascination and tired to bond with her more then once. The liger would not have it, she didn't want to be connected, and found that she was scared that by bond she'd loose her freedom. And so she refused the human, and later watched as they bonded to some other cat. Still it never bothered her that she was left without a keeper. She thought of herself as a more free feline. A true liger.

Then James came along. When she first met him, well really she first met Gweli she could honestly say he was no different from any other human. She found him annoying, way too into reading, and his little otterling was just there tempting her. It was odd though, for she found herself waiting for him to take his morning walks more and more frequently. At first, she was just watching him, but soon she found herself walking by his side. Eventually the two became very close. What most people would call best friends, and James talked to her about travling all of Eld. After that the liger found that she longed to see the world, something that she found odd, something that only James brought out of her. And so she agreed to be his companion, as long as he'd never replace her. And soon the two were bonded, and became even closer.

Name: Gweli
Gender: Female
Age: Young Adult
Species: Otterling
Type: Bubble Otterling

Appearance:
Image

Even for a young otterling Gweli is actually pretty small. When you first look at the otterling she looks about size of what one would think and otterling would be. However, once you compare her to there average otterling you realize her small size. Despite her size she looks just like any other pink Bubble Otterling, her base coat is a light cream or an off white. Her fluffy chest and stomach is a light bubble-gum pick color, dotted over her body were other dots and spots matching this color. Like her type name says, these dots that run across her side look like, well, bubbles. It's not that surprising. The thing that is most peculiar about Gweli is on her back, or well floating over her back. Just above her shoulder, or upper back, are two tiny, feathered wings. They are totally useless, but still there.

Personality:
Gweli is what one would describe as 'simple'. And this is true in many sense. The otterling honestly isn't the smartest one on earth. More of then then not her head is filled with air. This can clearly be seen as she interacts with others. If you give her food, you are her friend. Simple as that. More often then not, the otterling is a happy one, especially with food, honestly Gweli is just a natural joy and definitely has a light personality. Getting the otterling down is hard. With her simpleness almost come some naiveness. There's no better way to put it, it's as obvious as it sounds. In short Gweil is a relatively care-free otterling who more of then not looks on the bright side of things. Though she never speaks, she makes it clear what she is trying to say, and she's just a little bundle of joy, when she's not about be eaten.

History:
Gweli's history is very simple. In truth not much happened in her life. She was born in a little stream and was raised there, the only time she left was when James came. Ever since she was little she was a happy care free one, if anyone gave her anything she immediately treated them as a friend. And ever since she loved food. All through her life she's been over trusting, it got her into trouble in the past, and it still gets her in trouble to day. For instance, when james care along and she followed him off into the forest. It was the beginning of her adventure. Now she just follows both james and Cilia, neither one of them mind her, so alls good.

Hiding under sheets with the news on repeat
'Cause the screams and cries are hard to delete
While I'm trying to sleep, oh how could I sleep?
Laying in bed, trying to empty my head
All these acts of violence ripping this world to shreds
While I'm trying to sleep, oh how could I sleep?

Wish there were words to say to make a change
Oh, the words to sing to end this suffering

Let's start a revolution where we all stand as one
Cause we need to make a change for a new day
We need to be the generation that’ll awaken a solution
Cause we need to make a change
Make a change, make a change for a new day

It was rare to see a keeper off of Mount. Bastion. It was even more rare to see one wondering the streets of Alibaster, but that was just what James and his companions were doing. The young man had just arrived in the white city that morning, it had taken a few hours just to get to the market place and now the small band was slowly making their way through the crowds in hopes of getting to the library. It had been almost a year and a half since James and Cilia had returned to the city. James hadn't been born in the capitol, but he had spent enough time there to be a local. It was his favorite place in the world, Alabaster City, and the Alabaster Library was the reason for that.

Ever since he was young James had a thirst for knowledge. His father always had business in the city, and so James would always come with him just to go and read. By this point in his life, he had gone through many of the book in the Library and could walk around in there blindfolded. This trip was like many others. For the past year and a half James and his partner Cilia, the large cat that always was by James' side, had been traveling around the eastern part of Eldemore seeing what there was to see and learning what there was to learn. Traveling was one thing that James enjoyed and was good at. He loved to visit various parts of the land and see the world from various perspectives. One day it was his hope to go off over seas ad explore a new world. But until that time James had much to learn and read.

The boy was actually heading back to Mount. Bastion, though he figured it would hurt to make a side stop on the way. And so that was how James ended up in the crowded market of Alabaster. He wove through the crowd making sure not to run into anyone or anything. Cilia's brown fur was slightly dusty from traveling but her golden eyes were bright as ever. She didn't let anyone come between her and James, and if someone started to walk between them and quick glare was all it took for them to back off. A small head poked out from James' backpack. "Finally up Gweli?" the boy asked the small otterling. "Good, because we just arrived."

{I can write more or less. I'll probably just end up mirroring your posts. I figured this was just an intro to James and I also figured a public market is always a good meeting place.}

xxxxxxxIan stood out from the crowd, her hood pulled up over her face to shield her from the impervious stares of passerby but doing nothing to hide the three colorful shapes swirling around her like planets orbiting the sun. Lorelei, in his shades of blue and green, chased a red, yellow, and orange blur around her coat that could only be Ethoria. Murmuro stood by her hip, as always, growling at passerby and beating his large wings when people did not get out of her way fast enough.
xxxxxxxThe woman in the dark cloak, only her mouth visible, made no move to quiet the angry shouting that surrounded her when a particular daring turn by Lorelei resulted in a bowl of apples tumbling to the busy streets of the market. The shopkeeper, angry, brandished a finger at her that she caught and thrust out of the way. A low, dangerous, feminine voice told him not to worry about it, handing over a purse of coins. The shopkeeper poured out the golden treasure in amazement, looking up to ask the strange woman about the obvious value, but she had vanished into the crowd. She was searching for something very specific, and she would know when she found it.
xxxxxxxHer eyes picked out the mirror from the myriad of other wares, it's value seemingly unapparent at the first glance. However, the glass had obviously been cared for and the handle was made of smooth, polished ivory carved and inlaid with uncut semiprecious stones that glittered dully in the light. She looked to the owner of the booth, moving so fast he jumped back in surprise before recovering, the adam's apple in his throat bobbing in distress at the sight of her large Celtic Wolf rune. However, business was business, and he was no pushover. Their haggling grew into an outright shouting match, drawing many of the passerby to watch the lady with the runes shout at a red-faced shopkeeper, him equally upset.
xxxxxxx"Can't you see that I'm willing to pay much more than this old trinket is worth!" she shouted, throwing up her hands in dismay and tempestuous fury. The owner then launched into another tirade about how the so-called 'trinket' was from before the purge, how it had survived all these years.
xxxxxxx"Why, you pompous, ill-bred swineherder!" She shouted, arms outstretched, and that's when it came to blows.

James was a quiet boy, and though he towered over many he could barely hurt a fly. It was in his nature to stay away from crowds, though he'd force himself through one if necessary. But it was his personal beliefs that kept him from fighting. If he knew how to fight the relatively large man would have made quite a match with the tribal liger at his side, but James was a nomad and a keeper. He had been atop the mountain for some time and had learned about the balance between the light and the dark. It had been his choice not to learn to fight, and he had been very good at staying away from most arguments, however there were times when James felt as though he could help bring about closure, this was one of those times.

The boy had been moving through the marketplace, catching the glance of many bearers and pedestrians alike, Keepers were a rare sight in Alabaster. In fact, they were so rare that often James would be granted housing by some government official just so they could claim to have met a liger. This time, however, the boy had not planned on staying the night. And so he moved through the market place without so much as a worry, until he saw the crowd. The pink and cream otter on his shoulder hopped down from his pack and scurried off into the crowd, she had always been a curious one. James glanced at Cilia and both exchanged a look of annoyance and followed after the small otter. James slowly wove his way through the crowd, though Cilia soon moved up a head, and the crowd parted like the red sea. Up ahead James saw a cloaked figure bickering with a store owner over some mirror. The first fist flew and James sighed, it was a stupid fight among silly people, he didn't have time for that.

He glanced over the two and sighed, perhaps sharing knowledge with them would be helpful. If they listened, that is. The large cat at his side growled (causing quite a few people to back up) and shot a glare towards her Keeper. I can't believe you'd get involved in some petty squabble. It's so unlike you James! The boy let out a breath of air as her voice echoed in his head and shook his head. He took a step forward to he was near the two. "Fists are not going to solve anything." He said, trying to raise his voice enough over the fighting and the crowd. "Talking this out like intelligent human beings would be much more effective." He could practically hear the sigh that came from The liger, who was still standing a bit away from the fight. Way to go. What words of wisdom. James shot her a glare. I'd like to see you do something! The liger puffed out her strong chest but stayed where she was, she refused to act unless necessary.

xxxxxxxThe shopowner was no match for Ian's deadly blows, power and intent curved in the lines of her body and she threw all of her own weight behind her punches. While she was busy delivering 'justice' to the owner, Lorelei scuttled down from her shoulder and grabbed the mirror in his webbed feet, disappearing amongst the folds of her cloak to stash the valuable. They'd been doing this same routine for months, Ian creating the distraction while Lorelei robbed the shopkeepers blind.
xxxxxxxWhat they had never encountered before, however, was someone willing to step in. Ian was no fool, she knew that the liger keepers were legendary in both diplomacy and fighting skill, but this broad-shouldered man had made no move to stop her yet. Her thoughts distracted her and the shopkeeper managed to land a bruising punch to her cheekbone and lip, Ian knew by the cracking sound that she had broken something.
xxxxxxxFist raised, Ian turned in the middle of her retaliating swing to the newcomer, deciding to abandon the bloody shopkeeper and ask the tall man a few questions. Unfortunately, that also meant the force of her swing was instead directed entirely at his face.

She's stealing things. The growl echoed in the back of his mind, while he had been watching the flight Cilia's golden eyes had been on the women's runes. He could quite make out the women who was covered from head to two in a cloak only her mouth was visible and sometimes he got flashes of her cheeks or even her noes, but she was mostly covered. The fighting continued and James cursed his lack of ability, but he had chosen this path himself, he knew enough to just barely defend himself, but if he was to travel the world of Eldemore, he felt he had no reason to fight. Still he felt as though it were his job to end them.

He took a step forward, which ultimately was a bad idea. At that moment the women turned sending all her force towards the tall man's face. If this had been the James of five years ago, he would have stood there like an idiot and let her hit him. But James was now bonded with a liger, and although he couldn't fight, he was more agile. The large man took a step to the side as she swung, though it was to late, her punch hit him not in the center of the face, but at the side of his cheek. The force made him stumbled back but stubbornly he stayed his ground. "That..." he muttered rubbing his very red cheek, "Was not a smart idea. Please let's talk this over." He spoke again. He took a few breaths in an out to calm himself. He felt out of place in front of the crowd, but as long as he remained calm he would be fine.

What he meant about it not being a smart idea was true thought, because of the large brown liger he called his partner. Cilia had intended to stay out of the fight, that was until she made a move and hit James. In a few leaps the chocolate colored feline had made her way between her Keeper and the thief. A deep, guttural growl left her throat and her golden eyes narrowed on the girl. One thing that ligers were capable of, communicating to others, Cilia wasn't found of speaking to anyone besides James, but she'd make an exception for this girl. He might me a fool for standing his ground and refusing to fight. But I am no fool. Though the feline wasn't moving she knew her voice was echoing in the women's head, for she after all Cilia was a cat, and everyone knew the power and superiority (according to cats) of cats. I will fight, even if he wont. James tried to keep calm but his eyes betrayed him. "Cilia... stop this. We can talk...."

Make a change, make a change for a new day

xxxxxxxIan stood, blinking a bit as the man reeled back from the force of her blow. She hadn't meant to hit the stranger, and her fight was not with him. She may be a thief, but she still had a strong moral code.
xxxxxxx"Pardon me, I'm so sorry."she said, waving at hand at the bloody shopkeeper.
xxxxxxx"It's not worth my time." she shouted, turning to help the man she'd punched. However, before she could offer any assistance the brown and white liger stepped in between them. Ian threw out a hand and sparks flickered across her palm, barely noticeable in the crowded streets. She had thrown out her arm to prevent Murmuro from charging the liger, whom was roughly the same size as the huge rune, albeit a few inches longer. His yellow eyes ringed with crimson stared back from behind her outstretched arm. She cautioned her rune with eyes and a rumbling growl from her own throat, which the male answered before closing his wings.
xxxxxxx"Murmuro, calm." she said, to enforce her dominance over him, and stood from her crouch, offering a gloved hand in a gesture of peace.
