-If you get a duplicate encounter, you have another chance to catch other Pokémon instead if you so choose.
∗Shiny Pokémon nullifies the one Pokémon per field rule.
-Shiny Pokémon do not die easily compared to normal Pokémon.
-One shiny per six normal Pokémon. So if you have twelve Pokémon, you may have two shiny.

â—ŽThe Hoenn Regionâ—Ž

Hoenn
Main article: Hoenn

The Hoenn region is situated somewhat southwest of Johto. It is more tropical than either Kanto or Johto, featuring rain forests, deserts, and volcanic caves, as well as areas deep underwater.
This region's geography is mostly rural on the interior of the continent, with major cities springing up near its ample coasts. Routes between the cities can be treacherous, with densely-forested area covering much of the land. Legendary Pokémon are said to have created the region long ago, with its shape reminiscent of a yin-yang symbol reflecting the balance between land and sea.
Several ancient ruins are found around the region; their purpose remains to be discovered, though ancient writings found deep beneath the sea south of the region indicate that within them are ancient Pokémon who were sealed away due to their power.

Cities, routes, and other locations
Hoenn has sixteen cities and towns and a Pokémon League. Since the majority of the cities and towns of Hoenn are immersed into nature, there aren't many large cities comparable to Unova's Castelia City or Johto's Goldenrod City, with the largest area being Lilycove City.

The Hoenn region has 34 different routes, which are passages permitting Trainers to travel from one location to the next with relative ease. Much like Sinnoh after it, Hoenn's routes are numbered so that they don't follow sequence directly from previously-known regions' routes. Routes in Hoenn are numbered from 101 to 134. Compared to other regions, Hoenn features an abundance of sea routes. This gives the impression that the Hoenn region is half-water and half-land, which references the battle of Groudon and Kyogre.

The Hoenn region is unique and famous for its tropical-like environments. The region does not feature a true mountain range like in Sinnoh and other regions. Hoenn has many new natural environments including a volcano, a jungle, a beach, a desert, and many more. The Hoenn region also introduced the idea of routes with differing weather conditions, including constant rainfall, thunderstorms, falling ash, and rays of sunlight.

Starter Pokémon
Like the other regions, the starter trio follows the Grass-Fire-Water alignment, with new Pokémon Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip being the three Pokémon the trainer can to choose from to save Professor B*tch from a wild Zigzagoon in some random patch o' woods at the start of the game go on a journey together.

Personality: He may be outgoing at times, but he can also be very rude to those he dislikes.

Background History: Birch distributes Pokédexes and one of the three starter Pokémon of Hoenn: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, to aspiring Hoenn Trainers. In addition, after Trainers complete the Hoenn Pokédex, he will give them one of the three starter Pokémon of Johto: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.

His preferred mode of transport is a SUV that he drives recklessly. He is known to be more short-tempered and outgoing than the other Pokémon Professors, and oftentimes his research takes him outdoors. His field of study is primarily how Pokémon behave in the wild. He also specializes in Pokémon habitats and distribution. The father of one and his habit of accompanying his son to expeditions have led his wife to worry often. Only his colleagues know that he hates one of his assistants, Griffith, who had accidentally misspelled his name and caused him to become the laughingstock amongst the Professors for a period of time. However, like most scientists, he has a Evil Scientist personality at times...

Personality: Your cheerful average hormonal teenager, Brendan is on good terms with his family, and has close ties with his friend Griffith. He can be a little afraid of his father's Evil Scientist personality at times, which cause him to run away at the speed of light.
Background History:
A cheerful guy, Brendan is energetic since young, and is one of the few who sticks by Griffith's antics and cares for him as a brother. He aspires to be a great Pokémon Trainer one day with his Torchic and pals. He disapproves of his father Birch for being judgemental to others, but he is still fearful to say anything due to the Professor's Mad Scientist personality at times.

Background History: The father of Cassidy, he just recently moved into Hoenn with his family to take up the position of Gym Leader. People have come to describe him as someone who "lives for Pokémon".

Leveling System:

To make things quick and easy, but not too easy there is a level system here! The basics is through exp gain. This is a quick chart that depicts the requirements to level and the exp gains according to level range.

~Levels 1-10 need 50exp per level to advance, 10 exp earned per battle won
~Levels 11-20 need 100 exp per level to advance, 20 exp earned per battle won
~Levels 21-30 need 150 exp per level to advance, 20 exp earned per battle won
~Levels 31-40 need 200 exp per level to advance, 20 exp earned per battle won
~Levels 41-50 need 250 exp per level to advance, 30 exp earned per battle won
~Levels 51-60 need 300 exp per level to advance, 30 exp earned per battle won
~Levels 61-70 need 350 exp per level to advance, 40 exp earned per battle won

Level Grinding:

When level grinding the person is to post in large, bold font the words "Level Grinding" whenever they start. At that point they are required to at least post what happened within that time of level grinding. Two to three paragraphs minimum of what was experienced, done, etc.

The other person will then go to random.org and with the RNG generate a number between 3 and 6. That number will be the levels gained during grinding. Also, any moves learned via level up are to be listed for the Pokemon to either learn or not.

Personality:
Cassidy is an eccentric girl with an outgoing personality and a good outlook on life. She may be a girl, but is quite rough and tumble. She knows how to hold her own in a situation, having grown with a twin brother. She loves to play games and tends to challenge the mind a lot. She has a thing for reading and often can be seen with a book on hand at all times. She loves to explore and is quite the hiker. Cassidy is an active girl and is almost always seen up and doing something or another if she isn't busy with her latest book. She loves to try out new foods and often has a sense of the taste, even able to identify ingredients just by eating something. Cassidy is incredibly sweet and friendly, outgoing and always up for making some friends along her way. She can be stubborn though, just like her brother actually, and tends to stick to something whenever she says she will do it. A common line for her is: "It's not a threat, it's a promise." Which she uses quite often when she is giving somebody a warning not to mess with her or her friends. When pushed to far is when she can snap, and it can get pretty bad. Mostly she would end u[ in a fist fight. Cassidy hates when people are rude or bully others, and often sticks up for the victims. She is hard-headed too and has a hard time seeing the sensible way at some points. Cassidy has a bracelet she recieved from her brother, now is Kalos on his own jounrey, for their eighteenth birthday. This she hold dear and won't hesitate to bash some heads if anything happens to it.

:Background History:
First, Cassidy was born just minutes after her brother, Chase. So she is a twin. When they were little the two were all over the place together and wreaking havoc in their path. Cassidy was the one who was the leader mostly as her brother was more of an introvert. She loved to drag him on fun adventures, all while under the watchful eyes of their mother's arcanine. Their mother at the time was both Kanto and Johto champion, where their father was a gym leader in Hoenn. Which of course ended up causing a move to the place to where they now live, in Littleroot town. Still growing up the two were often quite a hassle for their mother. Especially with such a reputation she held the two were often expected to each become like their parents and achieve great things. This of course began to affect both twins when they got to an older age. So both agreed on their eighteenth birthdays that they would set out and go on journeys. Though the fact that they would be separated was a hard hit for both. Cassidy had a strong connection to Chase and didn't want him to go, but he of course had his own desires and path to take, and so she was left to go on her own. Cassidy eventually had it all organized and settled, so a week after her brithday and three days after Chase left she finally got it all together. Now she was going to go an conquer the Pokemon League!

Personality: Griffith is a very whimsical person and often waxes poetry in his thoughts. Contrary to his looks and status, he is actually a very dramatic and emotional person-often being overly polite and somewhat annoying in his display of emotions. Whenever he is in a shock or a tight spot, he tends to break out into the '**** Robin Dance', which is very catchy and often causing the people around him to dance alongside. Due to this, he is often scolded by Professor Birch. Also a cry-baby. He wishes to understand Pokémon-which is what led him to become a researcher. Unsurprisingly, he dislikes battles due to his pacifistic nature, though he can be persuaded occasionally.

Unknown to some, Griffith used to have relationships with others-of any gender, most notably Professor Sycamore, who he later on broke up with due to lack of contact as they were in two different regions, and both were equally busy. To him, true love is unconditional and is not gender-bound. When in love, he may do silly things.

:Background History:
Griffith led a rather boring life, in many people's eyes. He was born in the peaceful city of Laverre, and led a rather peaceful life there with his parents. Though his father was often dramatic and overreacting, his mother would often straighten him out. Due to this, Griffith too took after his father, both are equally as emotional as the other, though they all have a good heart. Sometime when he had his sixteenth birthday, his parents gave him a watch, which he swore to take good care of and wears it to this day. Later on, he noted the connection of humans and Pokémon, often watching the battles between the gym leader and their opponents, the wild Pokémons' battles and more. This led him to be fascinated by Pokémon and their ways, though he was somewhat repulsed when the occasional unlucky Trainer would get their Pokémon killed. Therefore he decided to take on the journey to become a scientist for the sake of Pokémon-and perhaps to get some Poképals and a nice lady friend. Griffith had a bad experience involving dying Pokémon and ignorant trainers, which makes him avoidant to battles.

He later on became the assistant of Professor Sycamore, and started having a relationship with him when he was nineteen. When he was twenty, Griffith was recommended by Professor Sycamore to travel to the Hoenn region, and become the assistant of the famous Professor Birch, which he agreed to. Leaving his supportive and teary-eyed family plus Professor Sycamore, he travelled to Hoenn by plane- arriving on Hoenn not long after. He was pretty awed by the new region, and met Professor Birch not too long after. Both Professor and assistant then had a good start for a while-until that day. As Griffith was somewhat tired, he had accidentally keyed in the wrong letters, changing the 'r' in Professor Birch's name to a 't'. This caused said Professor to become incensed and prejudiced against him thereafter, which made him often blame Griffith and try to dump him off the other Professors, much to everyone's amusement-though Griffith would beg to differ. Ever since then, Griffith was often left out in many things- and often a errand boy/ runner, which had caused to develop the '**** Robin Ondo' out of stress. Griffith is often seen as a whimsical person by others, and now takes to learning things from Birch's other assistants, who are more than willing to help him, though they're still wary of the way too catchy dance.

It was dark. Just mostly quiet besides the rumble of the engine and the boxes as they had a push and shove match together. Cassidy sat alone in this dark cavern, unsure of how to feel. She was moving to Hoenn, to see her dad once again and more. Her brother, her twin, went his own path to take a journey in a strange place known as Kalos. Whatever it was she just hoped he would have a good time. She knew it would be hard for him to fit in as he was never one for social interaction. Soon enough, the door opened. Cassidy took her first steps into Hoenn. And soon after getting a few things settled she was told it would be good to go visit the neighbors. Well, may as well. Not like she was gonna die if she did.

She knocked on the door, when a voice called out she entered. Quickly she was greeted by a woman and a small boy. She went upstairs to see if her son was home as she mentioned. Nobody was there though, so she best go. Yet, a pokeball caught her eye. She went and bent over to check it out. "Wow, never thought I would catch a girl bending over as I just entered my room..." Cassidy instantly reacted, lobbing the pokeball right where the son don't shine. She had instantly floored the boy. So after a quick apology session later and a bit of recover on the boy's end it turned out he was known as Brendan. He soon hopped on the computer, meaning Cassidy would best be leaving.

She sighed, heading outside and looking around. There was some rather frantic screaming from nearby, but perhaps it best to not check it out. She was sure somebody already had it under control. Besides, she better head to the lab. She did so, and once there entered. "Hello?" She called out. Was anybody even around? She stood inside, looking around the empty lab area. Odd...

You don't absolutely have to have him interacting with mine just so ya know. He could have been doing lab stuff while mine met Brendan or whatever else. :3]]

The day was going much too slowly to Griffith's displeasure. He was hoping to get a breakthrough on his current project. He sighed gently to himself as he surfed the computer, taking his time. He sat at the back of the room that was surrounded by tall bookshelves and various boxes. His various belongs- a leather satchel by the table, a styrofoam cuppa in his hand and scattered books on various patches of the floor. Sitting on a chair, he sipped at his coffee, grumbling about the intricacies of Pokémon feelings and mean Proffessors. Ever since the incident, he was feeling somewhat lonely as Professor Birch had stopped relying on him and often sent him to do minor errands. Though Griffith was bored, he was still grateful that Birch did not fire him and had instead given him a Mudkip not too long after. The Mudkip was a perfectly good Pokémon to him, though Birch had said "There are too many idiots in this world. Having said this, I have the burden of proving it" and left it at that.

Just as he sighed again, the Pokéball that he carried in his satchel beamed a red light and a Mudkip appeared on the computer table, making things more cluttered. It stood up on its hind legs before flicking Griffith's forehead with a paw. "Idiot pretty boy! Stop sighing. You're going to end up as an old man at this rate! Then I'll end up back with that Professor-" Mudkip's rambling was stopped as Griffith whined pitifully, breaking the sentence. "Aww, Lufian, that hurts!" Griffith rubbed his forehead, eyes tearing up as he sniffled. "I was so sure I was about to get a breakthrough!" "Yeah right." Mudkip, or Lufian as he was nicknamed, snorted at him before leaping onto his shoulder tugging the braided part of his hair none too gently. "Go get a break and relax at Brendan's house. I've heard that there's going to be a newcomer coming to town soon." Blinking back tears of pain, Griffith nodded and stood up. He then saved his stuff and placed the books back to their original places. Taking his satchel and empty cup, he strode out of the lab, tossing the refuse into a nearby bin on his way out.

Outside, the sun shone bright, the Zigzagoon gathered berries and a small flock of Swablu could be seen flying across the sky. Griffith grinned cheerily, his mood brightening as he put a skip in his step-making his way to Bren-Birch's house. As the duo trotted on, Griffith began humming the '**** Robin Ondo' with Lufian cheering and clapping in the background. They made a queer sight- a fully grown man and a Mudkip singing a child's song.

As they sang quietly, they missed out on hearing the screaming for help, being immersed in their own world. Unknowingly, they had also missed out on meeting their newest neighbour who had just moved in due to the different routes taken. The duo went by the corner of the lab and reached Brendan's house not too long after. Ringing the doorbell, he was soon greeted to a smiling lady, who was none other than Birch's wife and Brendan's mother. Exchanging their greetings, he entered the house, ruffling Brendan's younger brother's hair and making his way up to the other's room. Lufian settled himself nicely on Griffith, contemplating to himself. Griffith pushed open the unlocked door and walked in. Brendan was rubbing his crotch as he stared at the computer, groaning. He promptly turned pasty as he attempted to walk out of the room. Luckily Brendan had noticed his arrival and yelled a 'Wait' before he could do so. Griffith groaned," Oh Arceus. I have seen that which should not be seen. Thine shall repent and forget this from his memory-courtesy of Mind-Bleachâ„¢."

"Oi! Stop being so dramatic! You've got it wrong! There was this cutie and she..." Brendan explained hurriedly. Lufian sniggered at the white haired boy when the Poké-groin part came up. Served that hormonal fool right. Lufian thought to himself. Griffith however, was embarrassed by the misunderstanding and apologised profusely, animated tears streaming down his facd. Brendan hmphed and mumbled about massaging the wrong spot at the wrong time as he forgave the other male. After all was said and done, they settled down as Brendan allowed his Poképal to play with Lufian while both humans chatted on random research topics.
