[Startedraining]

Edgar stood suddenly and pulled Mara into a gentle hug. He said nothing for a long time.
"I want to rest." He said finally.

[Sphye]

Mara didn't return the hug, but then again, neither did she decline it like she would for most.
"Fine," she agreed, biting her lip. Her being itched to continue along the road, but it probably wasn't worth arguing about.
The two runes took the hint, scurrying off like pigeons beneath the light foliage. A large leaf was an excellent tent for a rune, after all.

[Startedraining]

"Mara what are your parents like?" Edgar asked, letting her go.

[Sphye]

"That's a pretty spontaneous question," she remarked, stepping back. "Why do you ask?"
It was somewhat surprising to be asked. The tall rune-bearer seldom specifically made time to talk about the past, unless it pertained to traveling. Most else just felt inherently less important.

[Startedraining]

Edgar nodded, "I know it's strange to ask, but you've never even spoken about them to me, what are they like?"

[Sphye]

"Well, I mean," she began, gesturing vaguely with her hands. "They're family. I never got along poorly with any of them or anything. I just haven't really kept very much contact," she explained, rubbing the back of her neck.

[Startedraining]

"Why?" Edgar asked, curious. "Mara I feel like we don't know anything about each other."

[Sphye]

"How do you mean?" she questioned, tilting her head. She crossed her arms over her chest, taking a half-step back as she did so. She'd never gotten the impression that she was anything other than as open as familiar book, with her usual readiness to talk what was probably annoyingly much.

[Startedraining]

"You don't talk about yourself or your family. I don't even know how you got a unique rune dragon. Those are hard to come by."
Edgar felt bad, as though he had offended her. He shrugged, at a loss for words to continue.

[Sphye]

Mara cracked a slight smile in spite of herself.
"Wait, I never told you about Canvas? Really?"
The grey dragon peeked her head out from under the leaf she was playing with, having heard her name. Her fluffy, paint-stained tail swished, dangerously drawing the attention of the other rune in the foliage.
"I'm pretty sure she's not the only Artist Rune in Elde," Mara admitted, "but she's probably the flashiest of them all. I think they usually hail from the Norlands."
