O.O Look at the shinyness on those sleevy things. Ooo! I want! And I love the other drawings too - they turned out great! I feel your pain with female faces though. I personally found the article very helpful in that regard, though I still can't draw females for some reason. Every person is different of course, but they're good rules of thumb.

Silverhart's article shows a really good use of (what I like to call) the "square versus circle" rule, applied to men and women respectively. This also applies to bodies, because of those darned things we call genetics and evolution. That is a dang good article, wish I had stumbled across that before!

Oh gosh, I hope she looks okay Sphye... I had this idea for hair, and so I had to try drawing it out. Her dark hair is tied up in a pony tail, and parted to cover her shoulders like that, and her colorful hair is in another ponytail, lower than her black hair, and so there's a colorful strip of hair down her back. If that made sense. Yeee.

Yay for more characters!! I'm going to have to create some sort of thread or something for them soon. I draw out ideas, but they need to be fleshed out!

This first one is a kid avian, based off of the gila woodpecker. I wonder how fast avian children grow up... but anyway, he is to be a kid. A hardy little fellow who likes to go off on his own and mostly stay near the ground. Not always the brightest tool in the shed, but always willing to lend a hand. Doesn't quite fancy flying yet, since his wings are probably not fully developed yet. His wings are just like the gila woodpecker, black and white stripey things that will probably somewhat make people dizzy if looking at it for too long.


Second is based off of the sketch I had made of a wolfkin kid a while ago. I've decided that somehow, against all odds, that the avian kid and this wolfkin kid will be "friends" in their little desert home. I had originally had the wolfkin kid being friends with the drake hunter direwolves from the Bazaar in some fashion, but with enough time, I think I'll eventually concoct a backstory for the two. And I'm thinking perhaps he is a follower of Hubris. Perhaps his parents/clan were, so he's also a follower. I've been envisioning the two as a wandering duo across the deserts, but that implies that perhaps the wolfkin boy was cast out of his clan... I'll work on it, pffft.


... and now I really want a kakapo avian. Because I still remember my 5th grade project on endangered animals, and I had chosen the kakapo.

EDIT: Whelp. Here he is, avian kakapo. Oops.


This was originally supposed to be kind of funny/a joke, but then I thought perhaps maybe he's wearing a silly sweater like that because maybe his grandma or mom is starting to get sick and forgetful, and thus she starts giving him these sweaters to wear because "it's cold" or whatever. He would rather not wear them, but his older siblings don't really stick around because they've already settled down with a job and/or a family. He's around middle age, by human standards, and this is kind of embarrassing, but at least he's nocturnal and doesn't fly. So at least not everyone sees him. He does it for his mom/grandma.

Might make him another relative though, maybe one that prods at the sweaters he wears... but that's mean. Maybe they tease him, but help out in some fashion. Who knows?!
