While the meanings between the words for the stalky green vegetable and the term that now falls under Autism Spectrum Disorder are quite different, asparagus and Asperger's do sound rather similar.
On a tangentially related note, today I learned that, even/especially in comparison to other birds of prey, owls are rather prone to overstimulation due to their impressive sight and hearing. This leads some to think of them as unintelligent birds, but the reality is that they are processing much more than many birds or any human are, which makes them very cautious.
