Well, Sphye. I terms of making a character using a dress-up game I tend to pick which "game" based on what or who my character is. I'm no an artists so I actually find some of the better games to be real helpful in getting the basic looks of my character. The games that I enjoy/find to be somewhat useful are:
Princess Maker -- I use this for my more 'royal'/ upperclass characters
LotR/Hobbit -- This is actually good for elven and other 'species' of humans.
Pixie -- As silly as it is, I find that it helps me with the basic look for characters (and is kind of just a lot of fun...)
Fairy Maker -- Again another one good for more mythical or whimsical characters.
There are quiet a few more good ones, but these were the first that came to my mind when I was looking through them.
