My mum owns two Red Pennants that she bought from the pet shop I work at. She has had the female a bit longer than the male, as she only wanted the one originally. But the female got a bit depressed (as they were in the same cage together in the shop and we think she might have missed him, as she cheered up when we bought him home) and my colleague convinced my mum to get the male as well, lol. We were going to hand-tame them, but it's not easy- especially now there are two of them in there. So now we might breed them next year and hand rear one or two of the babies.
Not sure on that yet though. As I know hand-rearing birds isn't easy as my friend did it with a budgie and finch during collage. We'd leave them with the parents for a bit first and then take them after a couple of weeks I think.
They are called Scarlet (Female) and Cobalt (Male) and they are beautiful! They make a right pair as well. Scarlet is considerably quieter than Cobalt and he plays much more than she does, though she has her moments, heh.
Cobalt wags his tail from side to side sometimes when he chirps and it's really adorable.
